You guys' love for the RUSH sound thrills me to no end.... The only sad part is that you will never get to see them play live.... they were masters on stage

Great song. Off my fav Rush album “Power Windows”. For me the song is about the power of big money, good and bad and it effects. Check the lyrics. The whole album is an insight into power, hence the name.

Never actually heard this song before. I love his bass playing a lot! And being able to sing AND play anything is super impressive, especially with the intricacy that Geddy plays his bass lines.
@michaelbriefs97642 жыл бұрын
Aldo, be aware that the video version is slightly different from the album version. They edited the song a bit to give it a shorter run-time, as this video edit is the single-version of the song. They had to make it shorter for radio play.

Not the biggest hit when it came out in 1985 from the 'Power windows' album... the record went gold and Rush still drew well on tour... but the synthesizer era of the band was not as commercially successful as their records from 1976 til 1982.

@davidgallion31672 жыл бұрын
Absolute masters of their craft. A great example of a song from their so-called "synth" era. Thank you for the reaction. Song reflects the era in many ways.

The 1st time I saw RUSH was on the Power Windows tour...and it was the 1st show of the tour in Portland Maine.

I remember exactly when and where I was the first time I heard this - Oct 14, 1985, the album's release date, sitting in the Carls Jr drive-thru waiting for a shitty burger, on KLOS 95.5 out of LA. It sooo captures the essence of 1985, while still being Rush. I love the "keyboard era", though many Rush fans don't.
@Jp421JP2 жыл бұрын
Best Rush era. Their most creative IMO.
@calito442 жыл бұрын
I loved it... The only album I can 't stand of that era is Grace under pressure. As a little piece of irony, I enjoy more caress of Steele than Grace.

I think I was in grad school when this came out. Somehow, the song made me really consider aspects of my chosen career: the integrity of the research process balanced against societal and governmental drivers. Rush has always been good for stimulating deep thoughts :^) Anyway, thanks for your great reaction to one of Rush's more obscure offerings!

I’m glad that you young girls are picking up on Classic Rock era. 👍 In 1985 I was a 10th grader in high school got tickets to see KISS Asylum “North American Tour” They canceled the show 😢 I was sad 😢 and upset 😠 etc! That time you can get your refunds or trade your KISS ticket for RUSH ticket to see RUSH Power Windows “North American Tour” So I saw my first concert RUSH 🎵🎼🎶 I was 17 years old. ✊✌️👍 🙏RIP-Neil Ellwood Peart the PROFESSOR on 🥁Drums🥁🙏

Wow, I have not heard this song in years! The video to this song, as I do recall, was aired a lot during the MTV years. It also received a lot of air time on Michigan radio! Just about everyone I went to school with was a huge RUSH fan. I am proud of my fellow CANUCK guys! Glad to see the two of you enjoyed this song & video. Another fantastic reaction video! I'm actually really touched to see this again after so many years. My brothers and I watched this over and over when we were young. Only Rush could do a song like this. I don't think the song is about one aspect of money but all aspects of how money works in the world

Such a good track - so glad you took up the suggestion even if it did not win your new year contest! It is one of their peppier tracks and I love how each of the three of them seem to (ever-so quietly and without fuss) turn it up to 11 - guitar, bass, keyboards and drums all having an absolute field day! I think you both touch on the meaning to it, I see it as a comment on how impersonal 'big money' is, how it isolates you from reality by adding a buffer zone and how those who have that amount of money and power do see it as a game.
@susanholt49422 жыл бұрын

New Rush song for me, so thanks to the requester! I liked it -- each musician had impressive moments and there were some awesome power chords. Loved observational contributions by both of you -- Mia, wow, such a great imagination seeing the Monopoly board, in the video (no way I would have done that) and your view of the meaning of the song - loved that, I think you're right. Juliet, how you really tuned in to Geddy on bass, enjoyed the song's peppiness and expressed a lovely tribute to Neil. Thanks for the barking explanation too! I was wondering about that.....hope mailman is ok. :-)
