If any of you are wondering, my teammate is OK since his helmet absorbed most of the impact from the slash. Regardless of that fact, what the other guy did was disgraceful and not a hockey play it any way shape or form. Yes, my teammate body-checked him in a non-contact league, but that does not even come CLOSE to justifying a two-handed slash to the head... Hockey is an incredible sport, full of speed, skill and smarts. If you take a beer league game as seriously as some of the guys on my opponent's team do, then you really need to take a look in the mirror and think about why you're playing. Hockey is not a means to express your inner anger, it's a way to have fun, enjoy time and bond with friends and play a sport that you truly and passionately love. I desperately hope I never witness another incident like this again. It's a disgrace to the game and there is absolutely NO place in hockey for this kind of behaviour.

Will you ever know what happens to the guy who slashed him?
@justinmooney29886 жыл бұрын
Because that is beyond dirty. I don’t care if he did body him in a non contact league when the other team has been checking all game. A slash to the head is not even close to trying to resolve the situation. Honestly if I was the commissioner I would ban that team out of the league because obviously they’re too competitive for a beer league. At least that guy needs to be banned if the team isn’t

Great videos! This is exactly why I stopped playing league hockey. Even in C/D divisions, teams stack their teams to win a cup that they cannot even keep. Not even a t-shirt! Felt like every week there were going to be scouts watching a C/D rec hockey league as if they were looking to recruit the next NHL star. People take it way too serious. I'm all about winning, and I'm very competitive, but we all have to work the next day so really, what's the point? After my last concussion which left me with fluid in my ear, loss of peripheral vision in my right eye and a headache for two weeks straight along with loss of concentration and focus, I called it quits in league.

Jesus Christ. That is by far the dirtiest thing I've ever seen in a beer league. Yeah, slashes happen - incidental contact throws your stick up, or overaggressive stick checking on the run, or whatever...but this is 100% intentional. On his feet, puck's at the other end of the ice (he's the one who dumped it), nobody near his body, and he took his stick over his shoulder two-handed and slashed down on a defenseless guy's head. Didn't even have the respect (or balls) to drop the gloves and go him if he had that much of a problem. If anyone deserves to be banned from an amateur league, it's this guy.

Had this happen to me. I lined up against a kid from a farm team and he was chirping me right from the get go. I didn’t think anything about it there was 30 seconds left and we were up 3-1 so I didn’t want to start anything. Puck drops, kid trips me (whatever) I get up and go for the puck. I get the puck and he trips me again, no call again but i’m not bothered. The kid then picks up the puck and starts skating up he boards. He was half my size so I line him up and hit him shoulder on shoulder and knock him down. Ref blows the whistle for some unknown reason and I turn around to head to the bench. Kid sprints towards me and gives me a baseball swing smack to the side of my head shattering my bubble. (yes my team wore bubbles. And cracked the top of my helmet. I didn’t even turn around and headed to the bench. The kid ended up getting suspended for the rest of the season and I was forced to spend 500$ on a new helmet. What a joyous occasion.

USA Hockey Rule 620 - Head Contact Head Contact is the action of a player contacting an opponent in the head, face or neck with any part of the player's body, equipment or stick. (a) A minor plus a misconduct or major plus a game misconduct penalty shall be assessed for head contact to an opponent. (b) A major plus a game misconduct penalty shall be assessed to any player who injures an opponent as a result of head contact or who intentionally or recklessly contacts an opponent in the head, face or neck. (c) A match penalty for attempt to injure or deliberate injury to an opponent may also be assessed for head contact. I'm not sure if this is the same in Canada, but in the states he would've been gone.

This kind of behavior stems from a severe lack of masculinity across the entire North American continent. This kind of bullshit NEVER happens in beer leagues anywhere else on earth. If my best friend did this to another player, the other team wouldn't even have a chance to beat his ass because I would. Peaceful men stand tall and don't look to injure other people out of some mentally ill need to injure because they have had their masculinity suppressed their entire lives. That psychotics entire team should have beat his ass and more importantly, ceased being friends with him entirely. He needs to sign up for boxing to release some of that fatherless momma-rage on some bags. Watch the guy at 6:02 about to wind up and crack the psycho like Paul Bunyan does trees but stops and controls himself. That's a real man. Restraint!
