This officer did a great job scolding these stupid women, she never screamed, yelled nor cussed them out but she addressed their stupidity in a firm way. But she was nice enough not to cite them. Someone could be having a heart attack or a stroke but they don't care, not their emergency.

P.S.A. to all volunteer or emergency workers who drive their personal vehicles with that colored light on top of your vehicle on the way to an emergency: If you get behind a vehicle that is not moving out of your way.... do not tailgate them. I remember driving and one of those vehicles were literally like 2 feet behind me in a 30MPH zone. I was doing about 35MHP. I was getting really irritated with them. When I turned left onto a street, the vehicle behind me kept going straight... I looked in my mirror (as it was passing behind me) and noticed it had an emergency light on top, that I could not see, because the genius thought the best course of action was to be 2 feet behind me. Not only was that extremely unsafe of that driver.... but it didn't allow me to see he was on his way to the station or an emergency. I know you do not have to move over (by law) for those vehicles, but I would have gladly pulled over had I known it was an emergency vehicle.
@klk19003 жыл бұрын
In my state they are considered an emergency vehicle. You will have the majority with cert FF tags they recommend anyways. But either way as long as it’s a legit person that has authority to make there personal vehicle an emergency vehicle then it falls under the law for emergency vehicle. The reality is vol. are actually kthe most important part of the chain. Without vol being the backbone. The USA would have crap burning down daily. Like my state is huge and you have mainly vol depts. you will have 8-10 paid men that literally just act as the chauffeur the vol driving personal vehicles to the fire then get there and actually do all the work. The paid guys just drive the engine or ladder to the scene. Then you have small towns where you have no paid and they drive to the station to get a truck. But most in my state have paid guys that stay at the station 24/7 then they respond with a truck. And they depend on the volunteers to do fire/rescue. So here the vol it’s considered an emergency vehicle because most tows they don’t report to the station. They drive straight to the call. They carry gear in the vehicle and everything they need.

Some people don't care, or think that the safety rules don't apply to them. Others just don't pay attention. I was driving through an intersection going on the Northbound road. I had a GREEN LIGHT, while an arrogant inconsiderate pedestrian walked across the WESTBOUND street while they had the DON'T WALK ACROSS / RED LIGHT warning signal. Me and 2 other vehicles had to slam to a stop to avoid hitting that pedestrian. One of them rolled down their window and yelled out a few cusswords at him, and they almost got into a fight. There are legal pedestrian crossings where the pedestrian can cross at a moment's notice. You still must activate the red light flashing signal and look both ways before crossing. This was not the case at this intersection, in you are curious. Just because you are crossing at a legal designated crosswalk, does not mean you may cross the street any time you please; you can get severely injured or killed instantly just by walking across at the wrong time.

technically speaking that is exactly why all vehicles running emergency traffic are required to stop at all intersections and such. they probably didn't know that there was more emergency vehicles coming. they might of thought that they were the sirens that had already gone by. sirens dont always sound like they are coming from the direction they are coming from. that's why people look all around when they hear them.
@ggavalon58032 жыл бұрын
Doppler effect disputes that, plus the sound on their right ear would be getting louder and louder regardless of the sirens already going off on the left.

I am 99 percent sure that they thought that one fire truck that went by was the only one. How are they supposed to hear the other set of sirens on top of the firetruck that just went by. The 2nd firetruck was still a ways down the road. I can understand their thought process here.

To be honest I hate when people ignore the fire/rescue vehicles, but I will say this. As a person who walks/rides a bike alot I think they were only walking as far as they could just to get ahead. I don't think they intended on walking out in front of the rescue vehicles. If they didn't do that they would have had no chance of getting through that light and would have had to wait much longer.

I don't know what everyone else saw, but I saw two ladies pushing carriages, in a crosswalk and they had the walk light. When the fire vehicle approached the pedestrians DID YIELD and let the fire vehicle proceed. Don't see any issue.
@britexpat_l33t7 ай бұрын
Indeed, and it is the SOLE RESPONSIBILITY of the responding vehicle to navigate safely. The pedestrians had a green light to cross the zebra crossing. They are vulnerable road users. The fire appliance needs to ensure they’re approaching safely, only proceeding when safe to do so.
@susanpressley27815 ай бұрын
If you watch the beginning of the video, those women were not even on the crosswalk. They were approaching it. Instead of looking both ways for any additional emergency vehicles, they just decided to cross. It doesn’t matter if there was a walk light! Emergency vehicles always have the right of way. Kudos to the police officer!
