NICE WORDS AND IMPORTANT MESSSAGE - THANK YOU yama and niyama are essential and the base of spiritual development - they are spiritual law ! whichever path you follow, raja yoga or any other yoga, or buddha's path or tibetan mystic this is the basic layer of all progress. but there is a second, what has to be applied constantly: the attentiveness or self-observation or satipatthana. without that a person cannot detect wrong doing and wrong thinking. and therefore he cannot correct/improve himself. millions of yoga- and buddhist-practioners exists but none makes significant progress or none at all, because the their mighty subconsciousness is still in power and destroys all achievments meditation as the third discipline is the entry to explore the subtle world (components) inside yourself and person cannot be successful if the behaviour is egoistic oriented all day long ... thousands of yoga-schools or buddhist traditions have not produced a buddha or a spiritual master. why not? because for the sake of money-making they ignore the morals and ennoblement. their instructors do not care only for money. the worldwide money-machine of yoga-teachers is about 100 billion $ a year and this is why mankind goes downhill and not uphill ....

@Mo Neta simple, even a small piece of toys were fascinating in childhood, when you grow up you search for something else rather than toys. But I wonder why people(even I) stop searching and perusing for greater things once reach in adolescent, why sexuality turn to be bottleneck in most cases to progress. I don't know how much I will succeed but It's worth striving and I will.

Namaskar Sister, my question is this great wisdom of yam and niyam from Patanjali yogasutra, could not save our country from foreign invaders, they destroyed our culture, people. Does this mean Bharat was not established in Ahinsa at that point of time. Still there are breaking India forces constantly working to destroy Sanatan. My anger and hate is towards them. My anger is towards the social injustice, these thoughts make me negative.

But in the world out there, more than 90 percent of the people do not conserve sexual energy, but many of them are still extremely successful. So what difference does this make?

I do not understand the “do not accept gifts, you can give, but don’t accept”. If it stops my clarity by accepting gifts why would I stop another ? Do to others as you would do to yourself ? Seems out of integrity to me, double standard, I can gift you but you cannot gift me ?

If you accept gifts without discrimination, you will also accept a portion of the karma of that person. Regardless of the nature of that karma, it'll create a karmic bond if you are not careful. This is meant for people who are really serious in the path of yoga. For an everyday layman it may not be wholly possible. You don't have to adopt all of this in the start, as you progress your clarity will improve.

@@briechilli4496 yes that's a knife's edge to walk on. A simple no may not do. I guess we have to go the extra mile to placate the person with nice words, I know it may be tiring. On the other hand I don't see any problem by donating accepted gifts to worthwhile charities.

Bramacharya as keeping energy or prana in your hands is a good definition: It is dangerous to be too radical and to force. As you go deeper in meditation interest and need of sexual pleasure will diminuish naturally, but if you force, you can get bad outcome.

Great advice. My only disagreement was the part about accepting gifts. No, I don't see how I would necessarily be obligated to that person. In fact, if I'm the only one giving gifts, it's quite possible others may come to resent it. Accepting gifts is a way of helping others exercise their virtue. Yet she may not be entirely wrong in this, as it depends on WHO wants to give the gift and on the occasion. However, if I know the person quite well, know the person's just kind and friendly, I'd accept the gift because I know it's helping the heart of that individual.

Explanation of Ahimsha is completely incorrect and I can prove it right now. Remember what happened in ISKCON Bangaldesh in 2021 to a 10 year old child. 50 persons gang rpd her for just being Hindu. Was being hindu violent. NO. So the real explanation of Ahimsha is not willfully doing any violent act but to save Dharma you can even do Hinsha. This is told even in Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta. In 1971 several Hindu yogis and yoginis were rpd and klld whether they were doing any Hinsha. So how can we guarantee that if we follow Ahimsha no one will do Hinsha against us.
