That's the beauty of 80 lb braid you can yank those lures right back out of the trees. That was a good stretch you hit there you had a fish a cast. A good day out for sure. The shimano reels are popular here with the musky guys,top stuff.

+Huntnfishnuts Yeah that's why we use it, cos Ady can't cast properly! haha. No you know the score, heavy lures need big gear or you lose them. Found a nice spot with some fish which was good. We'd gone through there and Ady had two nice fish about 10lb so we went back. Once I caught straight away and Ady caught we realised there were more to come, I switched to filming to hopefully show how we approach it. We had some good sport in that short section of river and probably ended up with 25 pike between us (not all from this spot) that day so not a bad day out. No monsters but you can't always bag the big ones. Ady is loving the Shimano he's like a broken record! lol

Fox rage is a great shad range been bagging pike using these and they don't get tangled in weeds and easy get out of snags .

Great Videos River Piker, really enjoying them.. Just wondering what advice would you give for some trout I watched your brown trout videos, I personally fly fish but a few of my friends can't and either go lure fishing or spinning but they've never got anything? Even using 6lb line and then if I'd go there with the fly I'd probably get something I always used to think that the Local river was never good for spinning etc,, What advice would you give? This river is all fast water, with some deepish holes and is fairly weedy.. Thanks.

Hi mate What kind of lures are they using. Spinners and small soft shads will work so if they are already in to lure fishing they should have something like that. Tell them to get some small plugs though. If you watch my recent chub video it shows the lures, which are what i use for trout too. Salmo hornet, Jointed Yogi and more like those. 2-4cm lures are great. If there's a good head of trout from 5inch plus in size you should catch a few. Trout will often hit the lures in the first few casts if they are not over fished. hope that helps.

I had the same problem with an abu reel, had it 1 session and it was fine but then the next session onwards things just started to go downhill

Really love the real eel! The thing is that most of the pike in my area have already been caught before so when they hit my real eel they tend to nip it with their mouths closed I don't know what to do!

+WorldWide Fishing Yeah frustrating one that pal. Pike that are caught often do things like that. You've seen my two underwater videos, those spots get fished lots. On rivers, i'll try to fish them when the levels change and the water colours up a bit. That way the pike are not reacting to what they see but what they hear and feel. Murky water hides things a little and the pike react rather than think. Can't do that on lakes so you have to try low light, so early morning or late evening. Also try bigger or smaller lures. Something different that they may not have seen. The only other thing is to let them rest (not easy if other people are fishing there) and then come back to them a month later.

If only i could afford a boat,should have gone to uni in '83 instead of partying :p So much freedom afloat,i was looking at the bank swims as you went along.You probably quadruple the casting area. One small concern,the boats speed at the start of this vid,would the wash not cause damage?

I bunked off twice in my whole school days.Once was during final exams (yea what a rebel) the other was to fish the caldew after a flood when i tried to catch a locally famous trout under a bridge.I failed but did net my first keeper (nine inches plus) on a cochybondhu and took it home for my dad to cook for me.He gutted,cleaned and grilled it gently with butter.It was bloody awful,he ate it.

The river we fish for trout is like that mate. There's a few nice chub in but you have to catch a 100+ trout before you get a chub.
