These are lovely edgings. I like how the knitting slopes diagonally across the width of the ruffle. It will look really nice on any project.

Question, making a Envelop Pillow cover and ive made the panels the two back and the front... im debating adding a trim around the edge, but not sure if i should make the trip and then sandwihch it inbetween the front and back layers? or stitch up the cover then add a trim around it?
@dianaknits3 ай бұрын
I would either sewthe trim on or put it on as a sew-as-you-go.

For the second edging you demonstrate, especially for the larger ruffle, instead of using a large pronged tool or making multiple moves over, could you take the stitch on the left (putting that needle into out of work position), pull off the stitch just to the right of it and put that far left stitch on that needle first, replace the stitch you pulled off and then bring out a needle on the far right? You would be progressing across the bed from left to right, so start on the left end of the bed.

I'm very new to the knitting machine .. so please bare with me .. if your moving to the left each time depending on how long you want your edge will you not run out of needles? & what do you do then ? thanks I'm loving your lessons
@dianaknits7 жыл бұрын
When you run out of needles, you move all the stitches back to the other end of the bed and keep on going! You can move them either by taking them off on waste knitting or by using a garter bar.

Thank you for all the helpful videos. I have a brother and a sweater machine. Can you suggest where I can purchase another knit machine.

Would you make these edges and trims separate as shown or can you integrate them into the edges of the piece automatically?
@dianaknits Жыл бұрын
I have not integrated these with the knitting. I have other edgings that are done at the same time, though.

Ok ive jist got my yarn tangled up and cant go forward or back what do i do?
@dianaknits Жыл бұрын
If the carriage is caught on the yarn, you'll have to cut the yarn. Remove the sinker plate, wriggle it loose gently, and then take the carriage off.

@@dianaknits ok cool i dont know whata. Sinker palte or a carriage is but i cut it and moved the thing that makes it knit over...it did take off the stitches but i was able to hook em back on. Thank you.!! I also didnt realise i can just asd more yarn after ive cut it doh! Glad i didnt panic and start making it worse!

@@Padraigp Oh dear, we've all done that! Yuck. I always take a moment and tell myself I'm a tough cookie, and I win, and the machine didn't overcome me!

@@dianaknits hahaha thats a good idea. I put the machine in the corner of the room and put the peice onto the longest needle i had ..but the kind of bad eyesight i have did not help me get the right stitches and the type of wool isnt great either. I think I need a much lighter would ive realised my machine is fine guage so 3.5 MM apart needles. I need proper yarn a ball winder and to clamp the thing to the table properly and just set myself up for sucsess instead of failure with the wrong yarn and no ball winder and the damn machine slipping around all day long. Lol! I have started doing some crotchet instead cos thats just one stitch at a time and if I mess up i mess up one stitch. I always feel like machines are smarter than me and hand doing it is probably faster in the end!
