My heart broke for both Tyler and Josh. Josh has to suffer by the hands of someone he loved and Tyler has his own demons. I hate Tyler's mother who played a huge role in making Tyler the way he was.

This was crazy. Nothing could possibly excuse what Tyler did, but he was dealing with his own demons and his mother (that bitch), so it gives us a new perspective on people's lives and poor, poor Josh who wanted the best for his friend/crush but was so naive as to believe Tyler would react well. It goes to show that love really does make us blind. And then Sam, the bystander who did both everything and nothing wrong. Who didn't do enough. This film reminds me a bit of, 'Boy in the bubble' by Alec Benjamin

I think you missed that Tyler wasn't just Josh's crush, they loved each other but Tyler started to deny and abuse Josh because he was scared of his mom finding out or something. When Josh said he was sorry he lied about tyler raping him he didn't mean it didn't happen, but it did was consensual. It all came to be the mother's fault who grew fear and anger in Tyler making him reject himself and his love for Josh to the point of acting really stupid resulting in the tragedy we just witnessed.

It made me break down when I heard how hard that witch slapped her little son? Some parents go overboard with how far they'll go to prevent their child from being Gay or Lesbian when, I'd rather have a child who's either or instead of a killer, rapist, etc., then I would have to stop bothering with them knowing they've inflicted that type of pain on another human being? That's why I can't just carry around unnecessary hate in my heart towards another person for who they choose to love, especially with how cruel and hateful this world can be? I'm a straight woman who will forever be scarred due to the pain and torment I've suffered at the hands of other straight folks and because it's those type of ppl that's torn this world apart with all their prejudice and hate....and that goes for all races and cultures who will usually hate each other but can easily be united when they find an alliance in hating the LGBTQ Community? It's also nothing but ignorant hypocrisy when some POC start bullying Community members when they already know how it feels to be unnecessarily despised for something so trivial as being hated for the color of their skin? Or when ppl do horrible things towards one another and say GOD wants things done that way....the Bible was written and then added to by a bunch of men who, love using The LORD and Jesus to keep ppl following them? My GOD knows just how he wanted everyone to be, but the main thing he doesn't want is his children hating and hurting each other. These are my beliefs and I'm entitled to them. I don't judge others for what they do and don't believe in because it's not my place to judge, just like they have no right to judge me or anyone else! AMEN.

From reading the comments, I've concluded that this short film is based on the Director's personal experience that didn't end this extreme. These two moral concepts came to mind after watching the film; 1. In Horror Movies, typically, there's a sexual encounter just before the gruesome killing occurs because sex outside marriage is a sin. 2. I've noticed too often there is a high level of violence to justify a homosexual sex scene. I prefer optimistic role models so people can have hope. In the year this film was made we are beyond this narrative. There are still possibilities for all people to find love, regardless be able to lead a fulfilling life that isn't as tragic

Honestly I agree. But the sad reality is that peoples past make them who they are in the future. Really sad that its rare to find one that has a happy ending, but as shown in the video, that's simply the reality of it. As the saying goes, "It all starts in the house hold" and not everyone can actually come out. I'm finally out to my mothet and she remembered something that I did as a kid which was kissing another boy. She was really disappointed, and when I came out to her, it was the first thing she thought of.

@@bigsquisums okay I don't really know how to explain it without droning on but I'll try to be brief. So basically the guy covered his face with cellotape because he wanted him to stop talking about what happened between them when they were younger, because his mother has brought him up (abusively as seen) and taught that being gay is wrong and disgusting, so he doesn't want his friend to hear. He covers his nose in the end because he is being falsely accused of rape, acting very animalistic because he is terrified and angry. He then remembers back on the memory and is brought back to humanity and realises what he is doing. He tries to save him but the other guy doesn't want to be saved, clearly he isn't in a sane mind especially considering he loves his bully from one thing that happened many years ago, then accuses him of rape just to get alone with him and noticed more. He wants to die, but we see just before he does that he regrets it and tries to take it off himself but can't. The whole thing is incredibly sad but it's even worse since we don't see what happens afterwards, because obviously the guy will be going to prison for rape and murder.

It's not funny to daily attack someone you love, imagine what he has to go through. And Poor Josh don't want to hide or escape. He wanted his lover, even though he know there is love behind his cruel actions. Josh being angry, took a big step and lied about getting raped. And it broke sanity in Tyler, his homophobic, abusive mom came to school and he is desperate for Josh admitting about lie. But this ended all wrong, reality happens. When Josh ran to bathroom cubicle, did he wanted to die? And Tyler connecting their hands proved that Josh is love of his life and can't live without him.

‘Inspired by true events’ is referring to the writer/director’s experience. I searched it up, so nobody was actually killed. He said that when he was 7, he fell in love with his best friend: ‘the inspiration comes directly from my childhood. When I was 7, I fell in love with my best friend. When our families found out, we were shamed and punished and I never saw my friend again.’ He also grew up in Iran where, obviously being a Muslim dominant country, and where Islamic laws are strictly enforced, there are bound to be a bunch of homophobia around. Still sad nonetheless…

@@KeyFrame11Media oh, I see. At first, I thought "based on true events" would be something the author has witnessed or experienced. I'm also surprised how I got 200 likes on this comment too. This account is actually abandoned and I was here because I was just watching random videos youtube would recommend after absolutely forgetting this account for 2 whole years. I'm honestly surprised how diverse the video can be: I have found random video games I've never played; unboxing video; short films (like this one for example); all gerne of music; non fiction science; math competition and much more. After watching this video, I am honestly gladful that I watched to the end as it is powerfully scripted.

I was taught that anger is fear in disguise... and the Tyler... is full of anger, meaning he is deathly afraid... of being gay. Sam seems torn, like he wants to support the Tyler, knowing what he is doing is wrong, but also seems to be afraid of Tyler too. An excellent film, showing that what you do and say to children impacts their future more than you can possibly know.

It’s truly disturbing how much parents change when they find out their son or daughter likes the same gender. People don’t understand the struggle of not being able to love who you want, this honestly breaks my heart
@kconrad5893

Although there was never an incident like that with my mom it still reminds me so much of her. I was raised in a religious household and the level of delusion she prefers to live under to maintain her small worldview is almost comical at this point. She says that she accepts me being gay but then “encourages” me to remain single for the rest of my life. When I ask her what she would do if I fell in love and found a partner, she says nothing. She usually starts into some shpiel about how “everything will make sense in the next life” but she thinks I should stay single. When I confront her and ask her how she can sit there and tell me how I should stay single yet somehow she was entitled to find love in her life, she completely shuts down and refuses to discuss it further. Why? Because the miserable bitch has no ground to stand on. The problem is that me being gay pretty much unravels the thing her entire life has been based on-religion. But instead of trying to expand her belief system to include me somewhere in there, instead of entertaining the possibility that maybe our church might NOT have all the answers, she chooses religion over me because I don’t fit perfectly into the puzzle.

@@kconrad5893 It’s epically awesome that you stood up for yourself, and confronted her. The ground that people stand on is uneven in some places, you must be open to perspective and learning, especially with so many diverse point of views. You cannot or should not put your pride and ego above lessons like these, less of all your child. This really relates to a new word I learned, dogma/dogmatism. I don’t practice any religions, nor have I done any in-depth research about any in particular, but isn’t it one’s personal expectation to be sinless, or good/kind? She should’ve tried harder, for you and for herself. In other words, she doesn’t have all the pieces for her puzzle, you need not fit in :) And have a nice day!

Not only the struggle of not being able to love someone you want just because they’re the same gender, but the struggle of being seen as ‘weird’, ’wrong’ and stuff like that, just because you were born to love different, you never had the option to choose your sexuality yet people will harass you over it, no matter what it is. Gay, Lesbian, Bi, Pan, Assexual, Aromatic, and some times even straight. (Yea, even straights included because sometimes straights get harassed for not loving someone of the same gender, it’s rare but sadly happens, no is a no.)

It's just as much a nail in the proverbial coffin as a character having left behind a new wife with a baby alllllmost due, while said character is off in a war or experimental space mission or something, and showing literally any other character the photo of his wife he inexplicably always has in his pocket and saying "when I get home I'm gonna make up for all the time I missed with her" - and you just KNOW that dude ain't surviving the film.
