Instagram : @elleleerealty - The Soul Of Wine Instagram : @Thesoulofwine_official [[자문 Advice]] - PDT Seoul 임다정, 이시행 - Instagram: @pleasedonttell.seoul

A weekend starting with P&P is a good weekend :D This kind of videos are hands down the best ones on the internet; "same producer, same variety, different quality level". Maybe we'll see some about german's VDP producers, one day? Like a Prüm (or Molitor, Haag, Löwen, Loosen,..) Auslese against the same bottle but in Goldkapsel, with Kabinett and Spätlese of the same village alongside them.

thanks for this nice video! i have a question for Patrick please...how can one tell that there's oak used for fermentation and/or maturation but it's rather used in an inexpensive way. like, using barrels vs oak chips/staves. is there particular thing that you look for or notice?

What a wonderfully edifying video with particularly specifc relevance to me and my dining companion! While we rarely do horizontal tastings, Mondavi Winery Cabernets are one the rare ones in which we tried more than one line of wine from the same vintage and across different vintages (i.e. 2019 and 2021 Napa CS, 2019 and 2021 Estates Oakville CS; 2019 Reserve To Kalon CS currently unopened). Even with our far less experienced wine tastes than Peter and Patrick, we completely agree with the former's assessments in that the 2019 Estates is a terrific wine! We found it to offer better quality-to-price ratio than the 2019 (and 2021) Napa. My dining companion also noted that while the 2021 Napa was more robust than the 2019 Napa with a darker fruit profile (both qualities of the 2019 Estates that we stylistically prefer), there was something slightly unpleasant for her on the finish that Peter succinctly called "rawness/something wrong." If he finds the 2018 Reserve a good value relative to the 2019 Estates (with a near perfect score!), we can't wait to open our 2019 Reserve!! Cheers!!

FYI, Peter scored out of 100 just after that, but I edited that part out to align with the later part where he talks about a point vs. price ! Good catch!

@@TheSoulOfWine I think the most important part is which wine is higher quality, not specifically how many points each wine got, either point system works to give I have a few video ideas that I would make if I had people like patrick or peter to taste wine with. 1. I'd love a video talking about organic vs biodynamic vs vegan vs natural wines. What those terms mean, and what impact they have on the quality of the wine. 2. I'd love a video talking about lesser known wine-producing regions/grape varieties. I know Patrick has talked about Swiss sparkling wines, I've had good Riesling from Romania before, Savagnin grown in Jura (france), Tokaji in hungary, Malagouzia/Agiorgitiko/Mavrodaphne in Greece, Slovenia/Slovakia/Georgia have a lot of interesting wines, Arizona is an emerging state that can make excellent wine, Cabernet Franc and Gamay are being grown in the Loire valley of France, also Coteaux Champenois. I think it'd be fun to see Patrick and Peter try and guess these grape varieties/regions and shine light on wines that are not normally talked about. 3. There's a new emerging group of young winemakers within that natural wine movement that are making new, interesting wines. They are all low intervention wines that are unfined and unfiltered, using native yeasts on the vineyard with low or no added SO2. Lots of them come in colorful labels and use oddball techniques such as extended skin contact, carbonic maceration, or making pet-nats by stopping the fermentation early. Lots of the time they also use interesting blends of grape varieties or planting varieties that are lesser known. For examples of what I'm talking about, PrimalWine.com sells a lot of these types of wine. It'd be interesting to see two experienced members of the "old guard" review what the new hip young people are doing in wine. 4. It'd be cool to have a video of Patrick and Peter review wine made by celebrities. Lots of celebrities' after becoming famous transition into making wine and it'd be interesting to see what wine experts think of what they do. Some of my favorite celeb wine brands are Las jaras by Eric Wareheim (Comedian of tim & eric fame), "Pursued by bear" by Kyle MacLachlan (actor), and Caduceus Cellars by Maynard James Keenan (lead singer of the band tool). Whatever you make next though I will watch excitedly!!! Best wine videos on KZbin. Always entertaining and educational.

vintage champagne doesn't sound very worth your time unless your'e looking for a specific one. you look for consistency and predictability. only the most knowledgable and experienced look for vintage champagne, even then it's down to personal preference and not necessarily quality unless it's a renowned vintage.

It would be cool to see you guys blind taste bottles from the same vintage that have been kept on yeasts for most of the time and bottles disgorged pretty soon (proportionally to the years they aged) and aged in bottles.

Makes sense, Peter loved the Mondavi reserve in one of the old wine king vids which both were made under the direction of Genevieve. There’s also a good amount of To Kalon fruit that makes it into the Oakville ava bottling from 2019 moving forward and some of it also makes it into the Napa designation too. Although I’m not quite sure what the girl brought to the table in this video lol…. Not trying to hate

Is this lady an MW student? Just my two cents. The questions asked in the video were rather very basic. And many of the times, I felt like the lady just intentional acted dumb to narrate the video toward beginner audiences. However, this makes the video felt less authentic and might be difficult to gain traction.
