I built quite a few Matchbox kits years ago and still have the completed models and I loved them. Easy, good fit and great looking when finished. I particularly liked the way the wings went together with no visible join mark as with other kits on the whole.

The first ever model kit I built when I was probably 7 or 8 years old (it was a birthday present). Remember gluing the engines on back to front, thinking that the pointy bits should be at the front!

Two nice builds there, I like them both , the basic one in it's bare bones and the camouflaged one is superb. I am old enough to remember these Matchbox kits being released and on sale at the newsagents where I worked delivering the papers, well it was either that or sweeping chimneys, lol

I still have my childhood build of this kit built in the early 70's. This makes me want to build the kit again. Even if these are not state-of-the-art kits now, they bring back so much nostalgia from our younger days, thanks again, another very enjoyable video of a simple classic OOTB build 👍👍👍

It does bring back memories when all family was together in the 70s and 80s and I was building these models I'd buy from newsagency or the local milk Bar. I never had the Matchbox kits but had the Revell versions. I have a few 1/48 and three Hasegawa 1/32 scale. Like seeing the 1/72 kits to get me motivated as I have a few 1/72 I've neglected because of larger scale kits. Good show 👍🇭🇲🦘✌️

This is one of the most beautifull jet planes that ever has flown. Not talking about efficiency. The lines of the planes are just fitting. It looks like a shark, though it is called "Schwalbe". If this would be a sports car, it would have been designed by a brand like Bertone. An F16 could also been designed by Bertone... nice aircraft.

I remember building the Me262 in the late 70's and my Grandad (Ex RAF WWII) explaining to me that if the Nazi's had more of these the outcome of WWII could have been very different. I only just got myself a Revell1/32 Me262 A-1 last month and very much looking forward to building that. I still love building the re-boxed Matchbox Revell kits to this day a bit of sanding and filling has never put me off, growing up with that was all part of the prosses and enjoyment. The re-boxed 1/32 Spitfire Mk22/24 matchbox kit I have is going to look great with modern building and painting techniques. Again thanks for taking the time to make these vids, very enjoyable. It would be nice to see what this me262 kit would look like if it was all rescribed with a little rivet detail added but I totally understand why you've built it the way you did, looks great.

Great job on your Me 262! I have built many Matchbox kits, first ones in 1973. I built this kit on release in Australia circa 1974. I was happy with it then, but these days to my eye the profile is a bit off. So a few years ago I cross kitted the Matchbox and Frog Me 262s. I think the Matchbox undercarriage and engines correct the flaws of the Frog kit nicely, and Frog got the fuselage and canopy shapes better than Matchbox.

Thanks for your comments as for the markings on the 262 with some Matchbox kits I build them in the spirit of the model rather than full accuracy as I would do with a more modern kit. I think these kits were a great introduction into the hobby for the younger modeller who would then do research and learn more about the subject and the love of the hobby would grow. 👍

The old Matchbox kit is a bit confusing the kit says W.Nr 112378 White 10 but that airframe was a later build and was used by Jg7 The scheme more closely resembles W.Nr 170041 which was first with EKdo 262 and then Kommando Nowotny (the yellow band is a Nowotny ID) and was used in a training film for III./EJG2 it saw at least some action as Franz Schall landed it with 25% damage on Oct 4th. This is all in the Me262 production log book.

I'm always totally astounded by folk who still have models they made as children in the 60s/70s. I'm 62 , moved around a lot and have absolutely nothing from my childhood. Not sure if I'm just clumsy or if everyone else has OCD. Started back at plastic kits recently and ones things for sure, I'm just as cackhanded and messy as I was as a child. 🤔

Nice build. Thanks for telling us what products you used. I don’t have an airbrush, but I will be getting one in the future. It was nice to see the technique. It looks like the older kit was slightly larger. I am a bit conflicted about whether or not to use swastikas. As a Jew, I understand the absolute evil that symbolizes. But as a scale modeller, I like to build accurate kits, and as hateful as they are, the real plane would have had them, so I would include them on the tail surfaces. If they’re not included in the decal sheet any longer, I would get them from my spares box. Excellent build video. P.S. , confirming your stats, I am a 64 year old white male. But I did a girl who built models too…once.

@@jeffwarshaw6838 thanks for your comments, I am in the process of building the new 1/24 Airfix Spitfire and I am concentrating on painting techniques to put in that video so keep watching 👍. As for markings, I would recommend you build the model how you want and what you are comfortable with. I also point out that the side who used the symbol were roundly defeated and I would take hart from that.

Matchbox kits are hit and miss. They were ahead of the times with being recessed panel lines, but there are NO interiors!!! But if you can get some after-market interior sets, then they become some pretty good contenders compared to modern releases today!!! Also, a downer is that most people want their weight of gold from those great Matchbox kits!!!
