What great timing. I just got back from the start of our brand new local seed library! There were probably 20 people there. Saving seed is so important for food security. We can't have our food supply owned by a multinational corporation if we want to remain free people. Thanks for sharing. :-)

Oh, and I wanted to add that I am suggesting that instead of purchasing envelopes that the seed be distributed in Maia seed packets. I have examples of the folded seed packets that your daughter taught me through your videos.

Fantastic - I'll tell Maia. She'll be delighted.

I tried the wet method last month. After a week or so, there was a terrible protein stench coming from the glass, so I'm going to dry the dry method this time!

Hello Morag, thank you for this video. You mentioned storage of the seeds, how do you store them properly? In airtight glass, just in a plastic box with a lid, in room temperature or in the freezer or how do you do it? Thank you. Brian.
@MoragGambleOurPermacultureLife3 жыл бұрын
when they are dry, i put them in an airtight container in a cool place away from light. THink of what a seed needs to sprout - light, moisture and keep that away from them, and safe from things that might eat them too. I don't put mine in a freezer.

Morag, your beautiful wrap arounds are so attractive. Do you make them or where if you wouldn't mind sharing do you get them..... thanks for sharing your way of life.

Thanks Candice. I love them too - just so practical for the warmer months here. Some of them I brought back with me from Indonesia when I was last there - exchanges for doing permaculture teaching. The one I am wearing in the next film I found in a little op shop for 50 cents! I've also sourced fabric from a local store that stocks fair trade fabrics.

If I want to save the seeds for next year how would I do it? Do I simply place them in ziploc bags and bring them out once I need them?
@MoragGambleOurPermacultureLife4 жыл бұрын
Make sure they are super dry first. I tend to wrap them in paper then store them in an airtight jar.

Wait til completely yellow. Rinse. Dry. Floaters are bad. Sinkers are good.
