Brother, game development is hard. Scripting a single steering animation for one car takes the devs 10 hours at least. The devs couldn't have "simply" copied tdu2, they tried to make it's direction more modern but resulted in many people disliking it

After watching the vid i wholeheartedly agree with your take on this. It’s incredibly frustrating seeing how sad the state of the game is. I couldn’t really give a damn more about a new location. I just want unlocked regions, offline mode, WAY more cars, and NO “AI go brrrr, 250mph around a corner brrr” . The amount of 2019 and below cars we have is embarrassing. Most likely. They’ve already assumed most of the server errors were fixed, when the reality is the player base solved the server issues by deleting the game in droves. They’ll probably pull the plug once the year one is done. GTA 6 will be right around the corner for consoles and PC players already don’t give a damn about this game. It’s quite honestly a DOA game.

The issue is that all of the things we dislike in other racing games are things that fit in this game, and the things we dislike in this game would be great in other games. For example, current f1 games allow you to decorate your living space and your avatar, which doesn’t fit the game at all. It certainly would fit here. Too many developers seem insecure that their vision will cut out some audiences and tie in aspects to cater everyone, which I would personally be happier if they doubled down on what makes each game great-rather than compromising.

Hot take but Ibiza is proof they have no idea what to do with this game. Wouldn't it make more sense to go to Taiwan or the island of Hainan. I honestly doubt this game took 12 years or whatever it is they're saying. This looks it was an 2 and a half year stint of mismanagement and corporate meddling. As much as I enjoy receiving more content for games I enjoy throughout their lifecycle, I feel like the live-service model has let publishers get lazy. It's really old that you're handed a half-baked game and you're just supposed to wait 1-2 years for them to fix it and add the rest of the content that was promised. Granted, games are much larger now, but there was a time when the devs had to get it right the first time, there were no updates after release. And of course, if your game is online-only, why can your servers not handle it? It's 2024 and this is not a title with millions of concurrent players.

Unfortunately games are MUCH LARGER now. Even mobile games are more complicated than games from the PS1 era that took a year to make. Games are now SO LARGE that companies are no longer willing to take risks that can result in 10 years of wasted effort and 100 million down the drain. A single AAA game not doing well can now permanently cripple a company. Live Service model is the "mutation" that happens in such as environment, it allows them to release the game earlier, and it opens up post launch monetization. Not saying it's good, its just a natural progression of how big they have to make their games now.

The servers are still quite unreliable, I play it on PS5, and I kid you not, I got disconnected as I crossed the finish line of an endurance race. 20 Minutes wasted all for nothing. It's actually the 2nd time I attempted this race, the first time I got kicked out of it 75% into it, and that was 2 weeks prior to my 2nd try. My frustration with that TDUSC is out of this world.

Unfortunately, bringing in houses now would be completely pointless. They simply messed it up right from the start. In the old games, houses were an important part of progression. You had to buy houses to expand your garage. Ibiza won't save the game either, as it will only be a small part of the island.

If they want to save the game for me, they have to: - Release the new map as expected in December or January for polishing. I don’t mind if it's delayed by a month; make sure it's ready. - Forget the clan wars update and push it to Year 2, Season 2 at least. - Replace it by adding solo play to the game or at least make a minimum of 50% of it playable solo, and add cross-play and cross-server (with the option to disable them). - Release the casino update with at least 75% of playable solo. - The first release of Year 2 has to be housing and 100% solo playable. - Stop pushing as hard on pvp Every update should include small additions like, for example, making the map (GPS) work on the dashboard in the car, like in TDU2. Improve the game’s performance, fix bugs, and release monthly updates to show the game is active. Add more small animations, like when washing or repairing the car (I miss the car wash and the funny car wash girl when the car was a convertible). Add more detailed camera options, like having different dashboard skins that match the car, like in TDU2, and make the dashboard and part of the HUD disappear in first-person view. I think this would be a good start for making Year 2 possible, and we can even dream of a Year 3. I’d also like to see a system where we don’t have infinite car garage space, like in TDU2.

Crazy to say but Assetto Corsa EVO got me more hyped when going through videos with the manager of Kunos Simulazioni hinting of a career mode activities after the failure TDUSC launch was. What they need to do is have a quick match system for PvP and ranked races from inside the solar hotel. Bit like a community race centre from TDU2. Theres two npc stood at a round desk in the lobby, one could be quick match all PvP events and the other a quick match ranked events. I really dont care what races i do as long a it's with other players, super boring solo racing all the time. I only log in now to do weekly events

I absolutely agree and see it exactly like you. This game misses the core idea. We already have much better collection and racing games. Even the social part I could have more of it in GTA Online tbh. They need to do more and different to stand out. TDU gives me nothing interesting to do I can’t already do better and more interesting in other games. My fav for racing is Assetto Corsa and for the social aspect GTA online. Horizon and this Ubislob game are just too arcadey for me. If they don’t turn it around there will be no players left for their updates.

Idk I stared playing Forza Horizon 5 after I haven’t since the first week of launch, and that game is everything I wanted Test Drive to be. The only thing I wish Forza had was dealerships all over and the ability to buy more than just houses. Let me buy a dealership or mechanic spot, let me earn in game money if people buy my cars or use my auto shop. So many possibilities here and it’s a damn shame Test Drive let Xbox come in and make the game all of us want… nobody lets Xbox do that, but they did 😂

it has no future it will most likely be canned all that progress gone to nothing its also crazy the amount of time they had and still underdelivered atp idc what ppl say 100 devs are still good enough gameplay is nothing of that of a tdu game no houses no casino (launch which is the highest the player base will ever be) they started dev since 2018 with 2 postponed launch of the game 2022/2023 anyway its over and its sad cuz tdu wont get another shot anymore its over its gg i hope im proved wrong

i do enjoy motorfest i can even race against level 5 difficulty ai now once you get used to each car it just clicks btw put your dynamic max lock to 50 percent trust me the car is way more grounded and dosnt full lock on every turn even turning slowly feels much smoother it has transformed the experiance for me

Everything is a grind on this game, a pointless grind. You are expected to spend tens of millions on cars once you reach level 60 only to get 1 million and a sticker, after winning 100 races. How is this adding to the replay value? 100 wins in a mustang which won’t stop spinning until 4th is a joke. I wouldn’t mind winning 1000 races in each category, but forcing me to buy specific cars I don’t even want, just to then win 100 races isn’t going to make people want to grind, it’s going to piss them off beyond words.

Hi Theo do you know if they’ve added Steering Assistance and Braking Assistance? I’m disabled and I bought this game thinking I could play it but for me driving any car is impossible. I will only come back if they added Steering Assistance and Braking Assistance.
