St Severus didn't believe that Chalcedonians were within the Church. He explicitly says that when he receives Chalcedonians by confession (rather than baptism or chrismation), that he is NOT thereby saying they have valid baptisms, but that all of their sacraments are "invalid, without foundation, and unsubstantial." He couldn't be any clearer as to their status outside the Church. As for his teacher St Philoxenos, he likewise received Chalcedonians by confession, but he at the same time stated that the Holy Spirit does not descend upon their altars. Moreover, St Severus' bishops said in the midst of the 532 Conference that the Holy Spirit does not descend upon their baptisms.

No one saint is the be-all or end-all of the Church, only the Savior. Neither is our identity. Nor our history. Nor our pretensions. All is to be committed to Christ. It’s His Church, not yours, not mine. “In our end is our beginning.”

@@traceyedson9652 everything I said is in concurrence with that. That's why I didn't bring up 1 saint, but our best 3 examples from different situations to show the fact. Moreover, I think we can all agree that whatever the Ecumenical Council of Ephesus (the last common denominator) says is completely the voice of the Holy Spirit. Well, it just so happens that Ephesus 431 condemned the entire genus of Dyophysites, and so this means the mode of reconciliation must be their conversion into the Orthodox (Oriental) Church.

@@traceyedson9652 Chalcedonian Dyophyisitism laid the metaphysical grounds that divided East/West, while Oriental Orthodoxy has remained one united & undivided body. Which can’t be said about the imperial Chalcedonian churches.

@@mumak333 that is obviously too simplistic. To lay the schism of c. 1054 at the feet of Chalcedon - let’s just say I’m not ignorant of the debates and have never heard such a thing. Furthermore, there hasn’t been an empire for centuries. Time to get over those bruises, bro,

@@traceyedson9652 No sore bruises, bother, but the truth. As an EO, wouldn’t you say that the errors of the Bishops-kings of the Rome lead not only to the Great Schism, but laid the grounds for the protestant deformation? Circumstances were complex, sure. But the consequences evident as time unfolded. “By their fruits you will know them”- Matt. 7:16 Oriental Orthodoxy remains one, but the body of the dyophysite churches split in two. Then Rome tried to compensate its authority with over-stepping power & shattered. Beyond the debate, it’s just how things unfolded from the metaphysical consequences of the practiced theology/christology

Aristotle is a pagan philosopher, if that is the basis for Chalcedon then all those who accept Chalcedon are truly anathema
