I just ran a HO Alternator for the old 4runner as well as this one. The stock components don't really mind voltage in the mid 15-16 range

I have a 02 4runner and it took a lil to find one as well! Went with a 320amp with Autotech! It's been great 👍 Brand x and Js alts also make make them! Hope this helps
