In the apartment I used to live in, we had a large unused patch of land out back adjoining a Central railway line. I had the privilege, and I do mean the privilege, of watching several families of foxes born and raised in peace from my fourth floor window. Every spring for five years, a family of cubs would leave their den for the first time, and begin to grow and play and shriek and explore, and wing so high up they saw me as no threat whatsoever, and went about their delightful business in full view of me. I fed them when it was cold, and whenever they were having a lazy day, which they seemed to do quite regularly. Their family bonds are incredibly strong it seems, and they are just adorable creatures. I developed a love for those foxes which broke my heart when we had to leave after a fire in the apartments downstairs which warped the building materials. I hope they're doing okay, wherever they are.
