Add in a whole litter, and you really have a circus. I grew up on a farm and had a purebred Poland China sow and raised her offspring as my 4-H project. Her and all her kids were so tame as to be pets. There was a small meadow with trees not far from the house which was my hogs home. And they would run and romp around in their meadow all the time. Except for nap time under the trees. And they are affectionate animals and love any scratchings and rubs you will give them. Just remember that if you get into a pen with a litter or larger amount of pigs, to watch your shoelaces and pants legs. Otherwise those items will become chewed and shredded. We also had dairy cattle, and their calves were also a hoot. Farming was a life of long and hard days. But there were many paybacks. Being around the livestock was one great reward.

@@chelseyl928 I can't speak from experience since I've never had one, but I can imagine it being somewhat of a challenge. You'd have to have a big enough yard to make a decent size pen, and also you'd have to keep it clean of pig poop and whatnot, but on the flip side, they literally eat anything, and you'd never have to take it to the groomers since pigs love mud. I know that they're unable to sweat and get relief from heat by lying in mud; thus the reason why they seem to love being in it. But like I said, I could never have one, so I'll never know how involving keeping one would be. Don't pot belly pigs only grow to the size of a small dog though? I used to be frightened by pigs when I was little but that's because whenever I see monsters that look like pigs (like in MMPR) but after watching Babe in the late 90's changed my thoughts on pigs, they're really cute and Blueberry is absolutely adorable I want to hug him. 🥰

Pigs are proliferate breeders and very destructive when their populations are not balanced like most animals. In Hawaii they have destroyed the habitat of many native birds and such. That being said I would happily shelter one while helping cull an out of control population. Balance and science go hand in hand. Life is hard and none get out alive kids.

Might be an idea to add that cute as they are at this age, they grow into a relatively large animal and there’s no such thing as a “mini”, “micro” or “tea-cup” pig, as some less educated owners have discovered to their, and more importantly to their pets’ , cost.
@snowsim3 жыл бұрын
A very important point! Piglets are incredibly adorable, (& to me, fascinating no matter what their size) but even the smallest breed adult is 100 lbs and an adult farm pig can be 500 lbs or more! That doesn't fit in the average home.
@MsRose003 жыл бұрын
Piglets are so adorable, but I agree with you. I am so sick of people just getting them and then neglecting them once they are no longer this size. That goes for any animal actually. If you don’t see them growing old with your family, don’t get them.

@@ArtDesignHobby Good. Let humans be the food for once. Besides, humans eat them, so why can't they eat humans? Seems there's a double standard. Would rather have my lifeless corpse eaten than have my body burned or have a silly funeral that ruins the environment and wastes space in the graveyard.

We have 2 Juliana pigs, and they're the cutest little farts. One was the runt of the litter, and has taken a couple weeks to warm up to me, but he's getting really friendly and not freaking out when I give him a scratch. They're brothers, and just beautiful. We're working on house breaking them by teaching them to use a litter box inside and to go outside. If it wasn't so cold out, we would leave the back door open like we do with our dogs so they can come and go as they please. They may be a big adjustment for a lot of people, but trust me, they're totally worth it.
