To me it makes a lot of sense. Not only because it's probably a bit more time efficient to only mix each color once, but mostly because it more closely resembles how most artists would probably approach painting eg. adding a shadow to each of the grapes, then adding the highlight to each one etc.

Every time I see a new painting come in to be restored, it amazes me in the complete change that you bring to the artwork and how you manage to save the "unsaveable" and bring back the original painting back to life to be enjoyed for many more years - its also about the only time that I sit and listen to classical music and I love it every time. I prefer figural paintings over landscapes, and landscapes over still life's, but I have to say that these companion paintings, post-restoration, are really stunning. Those apples look like what was probably commonly available before the development of modern hybrids and the use of spraying for pests and diseases - a bit of a historical record. While you always hear about restoration in regard to the painting and the client, I always think about the long-ago artist, and how pleased they would be, if they could know, that their painting was valued and respected and maintained in fine displayable condition long into the future. I've been lucky to have the experience that these clients are having in this video, and I can confirm what a wonderful feeling it is to see a painting you own that has been brought back to its full glory, released from years of being obscured and damaged by time and mishandling.

Chopin, Nocturne Op 9 I agree, the music should included in the description of the video (and all the other videos on YT). Hearing stories about Julian's dad and then the banter and shade he throws Kit's way.... he came by that humor honest lol. The Dad vibe is real.

I noticed that Kit is very talented with retouching. Often with Julian I can see, if I am really concentrating, where he retouched. With KitI can't see it anymore, all points to Kit. 😊

Big J has remarked in one of the earlier videos that Kit has a great colour sense. He sounded almost envious, in fact.

@@eliotmccann2589 I can imagine that he is envious, a younger student that did not reached (yet) her full talent and she is already kicking his ass with retouching.

Those paintings are absolutely beautiful. The competition was fun. I love when you have the owners on and show how pleased they are with your work. These last two videos were really fun to watch. Thank you for sharing your world.
