I love how Maintenance Mark perfectly captures that very specific type of human who is extraordinarily personable and friendly that you can’t help but love, but also does the most infuriating shit on the planet on a regular basis. His *one job* is to look at a big board of green switches and flick one if it turns red. He doesn’t even have to get up to do it. And yet he was sitting back there while that *single light* was red for an entire day, because he just gives that little of a shit. That’s fucking hilarious. I’ve had so many co-workers exactly like Mark, and I swear I can’t help but love them, even when they make my life inconvenient as hell.

@godslayer900011 ай бұрын
It gives off the feeling of turning into an adult. Everyone around has been through it all, knows it all, and are indifferent to the torment you are experiencing, for the first time. The relentless pressure and expectations of your peers compounding on top of having to live your life all by yourselves without direct guidance from another, it can make even the most mundane things seem hostile. The animation portrayed that extremely well. Doing everything correctly. Planning it all out, nothing going according to the plan, and at the end of the allegedly painful pipe? Disappointment. Nothing ventured, nothing gained eh? More like Everything ventured, nothing gained.

@@godslayer9000| You ever read _Bowling Alone?_ It's an old collection of studies that detail how that indifference and loneliness you describe is a relatively recent phenomenon here in North America. For the past 100 years or so, each generation has attended (and hosted) less community events than the last. This creates neighbourhoods where nobody knows one another, which has all sorts of problems. For example: It's easier to steal from someone if you don't know their name or face, and much harder to instead just ask them for their help.

This might be your magnum opus. Very unique visual style, and very reminiscent of early 3D polygonal video games from the mid to late 1990s, which fits with the main character's job of being a video game critic/satirist. (Though, it could also be just a hobby rather then a job, that he prioritizes too much.) The subtle humor, suspense, mystery, and buildup is all very well done. The character designs are very good, and make great unique use of the limited polygonal style, and pixalized bitmap details. Looks very authentic to old games. If more old polygonal games tried to be more abstract, and expressionistic with their designs (as opposed to try to make things realistic) like this does, I think polygon graphics would be looked on with more nostalgia like old 2D sprite pixel games do, rather then be written off as "outdated graphics." This shows polygons can be artistic too, and be used in other mediums besides nostalgic style indie video games. The issues of choice, fear, priorities, and venturing into the unknown is very well done and satirized here. Very good work.
