I needed to return to this video and comment now that I've three-starred all the levels without ever restarting or having a student fail. It all came down to this dormitory. It's a beast! For every new campus this was the first thing I built, and the most important step to success. I made sure it was built out as much as I could afford before starting the next year, followed the rule of eight, and satisfied all student requests that I could, and from there it was mostly just a waiting game to fulfill objectives. I never worried about maxing out all loans at the start with this dormitory, because it pays back so much. If you move it or create it between years, always let the current summer students "check in" again before bringing in the crowds of new students. You want to let as many check in before their first class so you can start collecting rent and XP bonuses. Only on levels without rent (Upper Etching and Breaking Point, I think) did I need to be a bit more careful, but typically the bonuses caught up eventually. In general, by year three or four I had more money than.I ever knew what to do with on all campuses. Thanks Pinstar for a design that, at least for me, was key to pretty much breaking the game. Combined with the 2x4 showers and bathrooms it's a perfect design

Thank you so much! I've just started and I couldn't for the life of me figure out why my accommodation rating was so low even though I had enough beds and fewer might I add, thinking that would do the trick. This is gonna be my new template! Thanks Pinstar! 😃

FYI, While your Perfect 10 room is a fantastic build for those who don't use fine tuning (which is great in general to avoid when possible since item placement in rooms has seemed to be much more finicky so far than in TPH, patches notwithstanding.), if you use fine tuning it can be improved upon. By smushing the two sets of three beds together on one side and the two beds together on the other side as much as possible toward the corners, you can get much more space in the center. From there, you can place two wardrobes on either side of the door facing each other, saving room on the other wall. Using this extra space, you can smush a third wardrobe and the third bed together in the center, while still leaving room for the Double Jump bed as normal. Best of all, all of this can fit into a 6x3 space rather than a 7x3. It doesn't give as much space in the center of the courtyard if you place the toilets and showers at the ends for your mosh pit, but there are alternative layouts and it's still a viable option for any campus. I've used and tested this build extensively, and I rarely ever have any conflicts with item placements. The only time I have had any issues so far was because I placed a hand sanitizer in the center of the wall between the two sets of three beds, and it was easily fixed by moving it toward the other side of the room.

It gives a somewhat decent boost to prestige, but isn't required. You'll notice one in my thumbnail. You *can* squeeze one in if you use ctrl sliding to squish beds together more tightly, but I figured it would be easier and just as effective to present a version that didn't require ctrl sliding.

I'm happy to be back watching Pinstar with another TP game! You're why I played TPH in the first place and why I was so excited for the launch of TPC. Would you consider doing Achievement/Trophy guides for this game? There are a few specific accomplishment achievements that would be helpful to have a guide for, but there are even more achievements related directly toward getting "X" number of certain tasks done, like "Resolve 100 pastoral issues" or "Develop 50 soulmates". Guides to help us streamline these tasks and get them done quicker could be quality content? I'll watch your stuff either way, but just a thought as I love going for achievements in these types of games!

Most important tip I've found so far is the rule of 8. Lecture halls / classrooms can only hold a max of 8 students, so keep intake at multiples of 8. Taking in 10 students may require you to build extra rooms to accommodate the extra 2 students its very wasteful
@Pinstar
@Pinstar 2 жыл бұрын
That is absolutely on the list. I was actually going to present this subject sooner but I wanted to incorporate more advanced scheduling tips... until the auto-scheduler started behaving in illogical ways. I'll probably spilt the episode into student intake basics and then cover more advanced scheduling topics once the auto-scheduler gets patched...or they hand over manual control to us.
@sombrego2260
@sombrego2260 2 жыл бұрын
Is that true though ? I'm pretty sure that lecture halls can hold more if the room is big enough. And classrooms I'm not entirely sure but I think it's also true ? Because you start with 10 students by default and only need one of each (I guess they are split in half classes so maybe that's why).

@@sombrego2260 its a tip i got from another youtuber I haven't tested it a ton, like using different intake sizes to compare, but ever since I stayed limiting my intake to multiples of 8 I can control how many rooms/teachers I need wayyy easier

Students don't need a desk in their dorms ? That's a bit weird... I like the game so far, but I feel like Two Point Hospital made more "sense" because the number of patients in the queue and number of doctors per patient, were ok. Here the lecture theaters are mostly empty and very small, while students don't even have their own beds and share them with 4 others students. A standard dorm room in an American college is 2 or 4 people, I would have liked to see that implemented somehow. I know simulation games have to make choices like that all the time, but it feels like they took too much from TP Hospital and so were a bit lazy to go full on toward an actual campus simulation.

This is a great design. In my experimenting, I was able to fit 8 beds and 2 wardrobes into a 4x3. They're all regular beds and not the big bouncing one, but I was able to keep it at 100% for the accommodation rating. I'll likely switch to your design once I unlock the big bed, as long as I can otherwise fit it into my campus layout.

Just the tip on varying your objects made clicking this video worthwhile. At a minimum, just varying the beds makes a difference, and now I know not to spam the same decorations in my rooms. Any thoughts on adding the other objects to the bedroom like the desk or an entertainment object? Or are they better handled elsewhere?

Great video as always. I know I always say that, but it's always true. Lol I love the layout, and it does seem very efficient indeed. My only question is whether having the room be designed to accommodate this many students is fine with only having one door, or if sacrificing a bed to fit in a second door would be worthwhile to prevent a bottleneck? Not to mention using a second door as a pass-through, which I know you're still testing.

At the beginning of the semester, the dorm is mob scene. It was even worse when I only had 1 wardrobe. However once everyone checks in, the volume of people going in and out at any given time for a nap is moderate and one door can easily handle it with a minimal amount of delay for the students.

so while prestige is nice for a whole bunch of reason's it doesn't seem to me like the accommodation rating is related to it, it seem's more related to environment rating it would require a little more testing but you get 100% accommodation rating with as little as 96% environment rating, though im pretty sure it can go lower

Hey Pinstar, I've been utilising your perfect 10 Bedroom, but on inspection and usage I've noticed that whilst each bed serves 5 students, the room build only accommodates 25 students at a maximum, making the extra beds redundant, and therefore need 2 rooms for 50 students. Can you confirm? I don't know if the dorm mechanics were patched in the weeks since the upload of this video. Thank you for all your wonderful videos!
@Pinstar
@Pinstar 2 жыл бұрын
You might be looking at the "Students Assigned" If you have more capacity than you have students, you'll see that number lower than 50. Once you go over 50 students your accommodation rating will start to decline (The high prestige acts as a bit of a buffer, letting you go a bit over before the rating drops). That accomodation rating is the key metric you're really interested in, as that determines both rent paid and passive happiness from their accomodation rating.

@Pinstar

Only for the prestige, but it isn't worth sacrificing floor space (or making the footprint bigger) to accomodate desks just for a little bump of prestige. Contrary to how they might be used in real life, dorm desks are not needed or used for assignments by any subject. Those desks are found in the library.

@@Pinstar Valid reasoning. I dunno if its just a Switch version problem but sometimes when I copy the room, I have to shift one of the beds down and then back up so it is a valid placement. I had similar issues with your sawtooth fracture ward build in two point hospital. Such oddities might not be great for a guide for such minuscule gains. Keep up the great work, brother.

Do you not add hand sanitiser and a bin? I heard hand sanitiser was same effectiveness as taking a shower 🤣.
@Pinstar
@Pinstar 2 жыл бұрын
It is not. A shower will refill the entire hygiene need to full. A sanitizer only refills about 1/4. That said, the sanitizer has a much shorter animation so it still has its merits compared to the shower. If you did some ctrl shifting of beds around you could probably squeeze in some hand sanitizer. And if the level doesn't require a temperature fixer, a bin is easy to fit as well. Failing that, I put both right outside the dorm and people will use them about as much as they would inside the dorm.

You didnt really understand that each course can only hold 8 students.per year right? With 30 Students you have one unefficient course with only 6 students. Same for dorms. You dont need one for 100 students which is an inefficient number. Btw, one bed is actually enough for 8 students, so for a basic course you only need one bed per 8 students., though the game tells you 5 students share a bed.
