War of Hormone got trashed because it's an "idol" song. RM's solo is a rap song which is more explicit. There are many solo rappers in Korea who are more explicit than that. Idol songs are expected to be clean and for kids/teens (maybe).

Firstly. The Rise Of Bangtan (official channel) still has 134,000 subscribers even though she deleted all the videos. The channel that you are watching from is a re-upload of the original videos. I am subscribed to both as the love I have for this series is immeasurable. When the creator deleted the videos it came as a shock and there were many people who hadn't even finished watching it. Although she wasn't able to explain why she deleted them - she did give permission to the other channel to re-upload the videos that they had saved on a google drive as they came out. So thankfully because of that, many people are still able to watch this amazing series and I have mad respect for both - the first for creating this and the second for preserving it so others could continue to watch it. Now on to War of Hormone. There are people still to this day that say the song is misogynistic. For those who aren't sure - here is the definition of MISOGYNY 'Misogyny is hatred of, contempt for, or prejudice against women or girls. It is a form of sexism that is used to keep women at a lower social status than men, thus maintaining the social roles of patriarchy.' (definition from Wikipedia) While it can be argued the the song may be a bit sexist it is no where near misogynistic. The sexist part can be argued that things being talked about are the physical attributes as opposed to a persons personality. But the reality of life is that the first thing that attracts most people IS physical appearance (whether you want to admit it or not, that is just reality) For myself (as an older female) I have zero problems with this song. Young men or women talking about their attraction to other people and how that makes them feel is just honesty. And honestly, RM taking this and doing research on women's studies is a far better response than just defending the song because if they went into defense mode - the haters would have had more to lean into as well. By responding the way he did it gave them no ground to walk on if they tried to keep attacking the group for the song. And yes, a lot of music nowadays is far worse (not just in rap or hiphop). When a song like W.A.P. came out it was praised all over the place for female empowerment. For the people who thought that you have a lot to learn. Leaning into the sexualization of women and and having it done by women is not empowerment it's just giving people who are already oversexualizing women more of what they want. As for RM's song 'DO YOU' it is not about drug use. Definitely watch it but BTS never promotes drugs. And if you watch War Of Hormone (usually shortened to W.O.H.) please check out the dance practice titled 'War Of Hormone (Halloween dance practice) 'War Of Hormone (real war)' 'War Of Hormone (real war) on crack' You will get a real laugh out of all 3.

Aneesa, the creator of the Rise of Bangtan had worked this passion project for over 4 years. She had never expected for this series to blow up as it did. She felt a lot of pressure and needed an emotional / mental break from the project. She made the decision to abruptly end it after Chapter 21. Even though she had already edited Chapter 22, but never posted it. She and I DM each other once in a while and I repect her decision and never question her choices. She started this documentary as her way to thank the guys for helping her through some difficult times as well as she wanted to create something to share with her friends and family why BTS are so important to her and many others. She is an extremely talented and introverted young woman. She is now working as a successful film editor for a company who works with major studios, so she is very busy with work. Also, with Disney+ releasing their BTS documentary series starting in December, it will be very interesting to see how they will tell BTS's story. What makes Aneese's series special is she tried very hard to use the guys' actual words to tell their story and not assume their situations. She lived through their journey personally. She is a pre-debut ARMY and even was in the line to watch their Amercian Hustle concert at the Troubadour in LA back in 2014. (she just missed the cut off to get in!) Finally, other Korean speakers said the english lyric translations for War of Hormons are incorrect and made it sound more "misogynistic" than it was!

I am very ashamed of the people who were asking for their money back when she deleted the videos. Unfortunately I'm not on social media so I got most of her updates through her channel and the comments. What is great is now she actually is living her life and not be consummed by this series! (She recently even went to Busan to spend time with one of her best friends!) I'm happy for her! How horrible about some of her Patreons asking for their money back! Really great reaction as ever... thanks guys Lots of interesting points as ever.. when Jhope was receiving that awful hate, their mentor from American Hustle Life (you saw in previous episode) Tony came out and actively spoke up for him &that Bangtan need all members. You're spot on about just finding anything to attack BTS and discredit them especially as they became more popular, still happens from other fandoms now and others. Sabotage is ever present. An interesting point is that BTS can go places incognito, Jimin said recently what he likes to do in his free time is meet friends & go to food stands in his sweatpants. He also runs daily by the Han River. RM is often out& about unrecognised so there is still some privacy especially in Korea.... less so when they are abroad at times. Jungkook went to a travel service station while filming his camping vlog & got food for him &his crew without being recognised. Sometimes there are leaked photos... but considering how famous they are....it's pretty good. . Polaroid photos, it's become a bit if a niche hobby & Jhope, V & Jimin still take Polaroids now. They all do a lot of personal memory making. You're right about the split personality...we call it their duality..... The channel that put these videos together closed a couple of years ago and only recently restarted again on this channel. We were in mourning for ages!!! There is soo much more to come!! Oh... you mentioned in the last video about them having to video themselves, they always have done mini logs, vlogs, twitter videos etc as well as their protocol team videoing. In the early days they did more obviously but Jungkook has always had a special interest in videography and set up his own series called the Golden Closet Films - he did all the filming and editing himself. They are all still on Bangtantv.

For war of hormone, the real text means "girls are like equation, we try to SOLVE them"., so basically, women are mystery. The term "we do them" was a poor translation, but I have to say it has a double meaning only for english speakers (most in the US) , because for non english speakers like me, it has no sexual meanings at all ! This song is funny, full of teenage hormone ebullition, and not mysoginistic at all (and I'm a 59 yo feminist woman ! ). It was just a pretex for some Kpop fandoms to throw hate on BTS, as they always do, till these days. But the Compagny, BTS and RM manage it very well and with a lot of wisdom, and they grow and mature for this expérience.

I am totally convinced had War of Hormone been a tv show about pubescent teens there would have been little brouhaha. It would have been contextualized as theater and judged as well done or poorly done. Misogyny talk would not have occurred. Rather, talk would have been about was it exaggerated or satirical and did this make for good theater. But it wasn't a tv show. It was a creative musical work squarely in the sights of a certain big corporation fandom which had already been shooting quite a few derisive internet attacks at BTS. War of Hormone gave them the opportunity to make BTS pariahs. They were characterized as rebels with no respect for women who made up much of the commercial following for idols. If one says something on the internet, no matter what that is there are some who will believe it to be true. And those influenced by your statement will like and pass it on creating a snowball rolling down a mountain. These stans of a certain SM group got a ball rolling which rolled over BTS almost squashing them had BTS not had ARMY and the skills to adjust when faces with real adversity. Despite the immediate statement of RM which tends to be highlighted in documentaries, the HYYH era was the real adaptation. BTS adapted by showcasing a new kind of creativity. This would not stop those SM group fanbase desk chair critics but would allow the public to evaluate BTS in a new light. And needless to say that light shone brighter. As to RM's Do You not getting trashed on, it was not BTS. That SM group's fanbase was determined to erode support for perceived competition. A mixtape by a BTS member was not commercial competition so would not attract the same level of attention. As a rap mixtape it was not Idol music.

And I did not see an issue in the song "War Of Harmone". Maybe if they were 40 year old grown men, that wrote these lyrics then I'd think they were just ignorant of the social stance of women. But teenage boys talking about their own hormones going crazy, which is literally what happens and there's no controlling it? It's actually the funniest song. Also about female rappers, I hope your view can change over a long time. It's women taking back the image on women. We can have sex, we can be dirty, we can be nasty. But we are not a man's object, we own ourselves and we own our own image.

As a Korean, I really like your reactions! Korea is not a conservative society, but foreign kpop fans are really left-wing! Korea has been very tolerant of high-sex physical contact since ancient times because men also wear makeup and the concept of lgbt is very recent from the United States! No one would think it's a lgbt even if they hug each other on the streets of Korea. Because of this cultural difference between Asia and the West, foreign fans especially Western fans accept kpop in a lgbt-friendly way, so foreign kpop fans seem to have a lot of leftists. I think I saw the news that there are over 100 gender in the United States! I think you are good people who value freedom and capitalism. @DANDJREACT ofcourse, Rm has suffered all the hate bts gets alone. In the beginning he used to translate hateful comments to good ones to the boys since they didn't understand English. Still now he still receives hate. Two days back he opened up to us ,that there's a moment he wanted to just die cause of the so much hate he used to get, but now he realised that many love him ,he no longer cares about what haters say about him. We have solos in the fandom who only love one member and hate on the rest, ever since RM assured as about the reunion of 2025,many become mad, cause their want their favourite to go solo ,yet non of wants to go.Also other fandoms want bts to disband, cause they think bts is limiting other groups to shine which isn't true, they focus more on bts than the groups they support. And even if bts disbands, there's no guarantee that those groups can be bts.

But you forgot to mention that didn't happened until BTS made it popular. Before then only a tiny few were able to take part in the song writing. BTS were even looked down upon for doing it. It was BTS artist freedom that other companies realised was a tool they weren't really using and maybe their groups could get as big as BTS if they tried getting some of their groups member a bit more involved in writing lyric's.

Also kpop fans are so toxic, they pay attention more on bts alot on everything they do,recently they accused RM for inserting Islam by just listening to the song called bad religion which has nothing to do with the religion. What I found ridiculous is The K pop girls dress and dance like window dressing in Amsterdam and yet this song was bad? I just laughed about this. RM took it very seriously. I'm gonna copy the comment-essay-rant I made on another video about War of Hormone bcs honestly it's SO frustrating 😂: I personally never saw it as misogynistic but as the perspective of a guy simply mentioning what attracted them to a girl. In WOH, they literally say "girls are a gift" and even a lyric that was translated as "women are like an equation, us guys are the solution" also translated as "women are an equation, us guys do them" and it's those small instances in translation that can also generate misunderstandings, like with the change in "do them". Bcs it's been analyzed by many that, yeah you can take it with your interpretation (as them being misogynistic), but I've seen many ARMYs agreeing that it can also mean that the lyrics explains that, if the "equation" of women/girls equal the "answer" aka guys/men, BTS actually meant that men and women are equal. And if they acknowledged the so-called "problem" in the lyrics, it was bcs of the backlash. Bcs they realized their lyrics could be seen as misogynistic but it doesn't mean that was their intention in the meaning of those lyrics. They realized the lyrics could be hurtful, but that doesn't mean it was intended to be hurtful or that everyone thought that. And like I said, to me, personally, there was no misogyny. My country's native language is spanish (I'm latin american) and ppl listen to raeggaeton 24/7, and most of those lyrics and mvs are misogynistic AF. And honestly?? From what friends living in the US tell me, ppl love reggaeton over there (and even love songs like WAP bcs that's somehow female empowerment when the only thing it does, imo is give more leeway for women sexualization bcs it's now "acceptable" then) but that aspect is never mentioned bcs of the language barrier and ppl simply bopping to them; the songs translated to english can even sound very romantic bcs like I've said, the translation will never be the same as the OG song's meaning. So it's not to excuse but to also remember that essence in lyrics is lost, especially in languages like korean or japanese, where many translations will never even capture a bit of the meaning due to english having no word for the emotion/feeling described. 🤷♀🤷♀🤷♀🤷♀ So honestly haters will always nitpick anything, even if it's an innocent song 😂

I haven’t even finished the reaction but I wanted to share my thoughts on the misogynistic lyrics thing. As a woman I have no issue with a song like “Boy in Luv”, bc it is just describing *A* high school crush (and it could be from a man or a woman). “Women are the best gift, gift” “Who said women are cold icebergs, let it go/Females that make me go crazy, they stimulate me every day” - However, lyrics like this in War of Hormone go beyond the “crush” and start objectifying and generalizing ALL women, basically idolizing and “mystifying” their nature, instead of treating them as humans, I do find it dehumanizing, it makes me feel like bc I’m a woman I’m supposed to be put on a pedestal (I never asked for) to have my beauty (as if that’s the only thing I have of value) to be admired by men. “Her hair, body, waist, legs, and areas that can’t be said. If anyone SAYS HE’s not interested in them, I’d be dumbfounded AS A MAN” - this one is a bonus one bc it means gay men didn’t exist in the BTS lyrical universe yet (this is a joke ofc, but this lyric does also kinda erase the existence of men who just aren’t attracted to women, or at very least places some heavy judgment on them for “saying” they aren’t interested). Anyways, the boys, as all of us, are human who are products of their environment (a misogynist society that teaches boys from a very young age to objectify women). I care much more abt their reaction and response once they were called out than the fact they ever wrote these lyrics. And my respect and love for them only grew from how they handled the situation, specially RMs openness in an interview they did a while back where he talks abt how he received a lot of criticism abt his lyrics regarding misogyny and it made him do a lot of self reflection abt if he hadn’t been dismissive of women’s struggles and how he talked abt women in his earlier songs. I understand many vintage (older) army don’t find a problem with the lyrics, but I see many younger army’s who did/do, that to me solidifies that we are walking towards a more critical society where this kind of language and attitude towards women, specially young girls in school isn’t normalized. That’s just my take on it. War of Hormone is definitely a skip for me and I’m glad they’ve learnt from this.

@@TripTipsPodcast yeah, I wasn’t around back then, I listened to the song on my own and didn’t really like it bc of the lyrics and later found out ppl had this issue with it as well. Bts aren’t perfect ppl. I do think they deserved criticism for it, but it should come from a place of understanding and leave them enough room to apologize and change (which they have), not relentlessly put them down for their mistakes. I think any army who has had an issue with the song has been respectfully critic of it, but bc of how toxic the kpop fan scene is many fans from other groups and K-pop journalists will use this as ammunition to hate on BTS and make the issue a lot bigger than it ever needed to be. Regardless, this is definitely something that’s in the past and that armys and BTS have moved on from.

RM's song "Do You" isn't about drugs or sex at all, I'll explain it to you the day you'll react to it. Also "War Of Hormone" isn't misogynistic at all, as you said a lot of corporations wanted to shut BTS down, already early in their career, it appeared that BTS were becoming the most popular korean group in the US and for those corporations it was out of question to be humiliated by a group coming from a small independant label.. So since they were already owning a large portion of the mainstream medias, they made sure to release tons of deffamatory and negative articles against BTS, it was honestly the hell for BTS to endure... They used wrong translation of the lyrics and the scandal became so big that BigHit were forced to apologize because they still had no power and a lot of debts at the time.... Even the editor of this series used the wrong translation (especially Suga's verse), you can check the right ones on the original MV or Genius or Doolset.... Keep in mind the editor is a kpop fan in general not just BTS, so sometimes she blurred the lines or twisted some contexts to spare the other groups or labels. Also often medias check the social medias and pick what the haters are spreading about BTS even if its wrong and release articles without fact-checking... there was even a big scandal where haters were literaly contacting and feeding medias with fake infos regarding a political affair involving Japan, and a lot of medias including overseas ones like The Guardian, Billboard or NYTimes headlined it without fact-checking.. You'll come to that affair and I'll give more details.

i seriously don't know what drove those wannabe feminists. if a guy tells them women are great, they're misogynist according to them, if a guy tells them they can't do something cause they're female, they're misogynist. those two don't even compare. if a woman is offended by being called a gift, there's something substantially wrong with her and her relationship with being female, her perception of herself as a woman. those fake feminists are imposing their usual complaints on them by reading more into the lyrics than there is by habit. it's completely thoughtless and is simply the most basic expression of lesser emotional, impulsive responses. the guys still had a teenage mindset regarding dating etc., so it's only understandable how they're describing their experiences of noticing women more and what going through puberty/end of puberty does to them as men. i can't think of one single song that talks about male hormones during or after puberty, especially in shocking honesty. it's still done tastefully, they're not like " damn those titties are great!" even if that's what they might actually think. so what? a guy liking or being attracted to the female body is a bad thing now? what do those women actually want? if a guy is being honest it's considered offensive but it's actually something they're demanding. it's psychotic. they were also complaining about converse high, where they're expressing their preferences, saying they like this one girl even more when she's wearing her converse. they're simply expressing their discovery of personal preferences or a type they fall for more easily. it's nothing to be mad about. we, as a society, need to stop treating attraction or love as a currency or a checklist. we need to stop creating an environment of where sameness is desirable and pretend that's normal, shaming everything that's different. love lies in our differences and accepting otherness, not in forced sameness. conclusion: you can't fix stupid. sorry for the long ass rant, dearly, a feminist with common sense.
