TWO SIDES TO JUDAISM: UNIVERSALISM and PARTICULARISM • with Rabbi Michael Skobac
Did you know that there are two sides to Judaism?
The Torah describes Israel as a people who dwell apart, and many aspects of Judaism are designed to prevent assimilation into the general society. Yet, at the same time, the Torah sees the Jewish people as playing a history changing role among the nations of the world. In this lecture, Rabbi Michael Skobac will look at the interplay between these two seeming contradictory aspects of the Jews.

JEWS FOR JUDAISM is an outreach organization whose primary goal is to win back to Judaism those Jews who have been influenced by the following six threats to Jewish survival that are devastating the global Jewish community.
1. Hebrew-Christian missionaries convert thousands of Jews worldwide every year
2. Destructive cults cause many Jews to abandon family, friends and careers
3. Eastern religions, Buddhism and Hinduism are spiritual choices for many Jews
4. Apathy and ignorance leave many Jews unaware, unaffiliated and assimilated
5. Intermarriage is exploding with a 75% rate in some North American cities
6. Anti-Israel BDS on campus inhibits Jewish students from standing up for Israel and Judaism
To assist non-Jews who have left other religions, JEWS FOR JUDAISM also provides educational programs to help them embrace the Torah’s Seven Noachide Laws for Gentiles.
We achieve our goals through our worldwide Internet outreach, Social Media, free educational programs, educational literature and counseling services that connect Jewish people to the spiritual depth, beauty and wisdom of Judaism.
“I am so grateful to have discovered the wonderful Jews for Judaism KZbin lectures by Rabbi Skobac. I am a Jew who converted to Christianity in college, but now, thanks to your online outreach, I have returned to Judaism. Thank you.” - Rebecca G.
In a nutshell, Jews for Judaism saves Jewish lives and keeps Jews Jewish.
PLEASE SUPPORT JEWS FOR JUDAISM’S LIFE-SAVING WORK!
Your help is very much needed and greatly appreciated.

Baruch HaShem! As Assyrians, we are proud that we gave the Jews Abraham as an ancestor, and that we gave them the alphabet, Ktav Ashurit. And most of all, we are happy that we gave them KhaShem (He whose name is Kha 1, because He is nameless and invisible) In modern times we have provided Israel with the best aviation technology (Flew a Russian MIG fighter jet from Iraq to Israel) In addition, it was an Assyrian who developed the world's best drone in Israel. Barukh KhaShem and Shabbat Shalom le kolam!

At the 32:50 min mark area..... something I've always thought is the ongoing struggle of the tower of babble... and why Babylon.... babble on.... babbling on.... So in the sense, when the world stops babbling on, is a time of the true messiah.... and we see that in the xtian nt, they introduce a new form of babbling and called it tongues...which would also be the false messiah time... which we are coming to the close of. Meaning xtianity literally goes all the way back to nimrod... and their jc is non other than a revised version of Tammuz.

The Torah clearly set distinctions between priests/israelites, man/woman, jew/gentile. Hence Judaism and Jewish discourse is strongly bent towards particularism. The Jews we see advocating universalist worldviews are mostly secular. It can be a challenge for non Jews and even Jews to see the element of universalism within Jewish tradition.

Rabbi: You use the term "Jews" often, when in reality the Bible is referring to the ancient Israelites. Is the reason for that in order to simplify matters for non-Jews such as myself? Am I missing something here?

Universalism is what Israel is. PERIOD. If God had given HIS PROMISE TO JACOB THEN THAT WOULD MAKE ISRAEL IN LINE WITH PARTICULARISM, ALTHOUGH THE WORD ISOLATIONISM WOULD BE MORE APPROPRIATE IF GOD HAD GIVEN JACOB THE PROMISE..

THE ABSOLUTE SUPREMACY OF ALMIGHTY GOD YEHOVAH OVER THE PROPHETS, PRIESTS, PRINCES, PASTORS AND SERVANTS AND MESSANGERS THOSE THAT FAIL TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE SUPREMACY OF GOD YEHOVAH OVER A PROPHET AND THE SUPREMACY AND DIFFERENCE OF THE WORD OF GOD YEHOVAH THAT A PROPHET SPOKE IN THE NAME OF GOD YEHOVAH AS COMMANDED AND THE PERSONAL WORDS OF A PROPHET THAT MAY BE CONCORDANT TO THE WORD OF GOD YEHOVAH OR MAY BE CONTRADICTORY, PERVERTING, BLASPHEMOUS AND REBELLIOUS TO THE WORD OF GOD YEHOVAH SPOKEN NOT IN THE NAME OF GOD YEHOVAH OR SPOKEN FALSELY IN THE NAME OF GOD YEHOVAH WILL CONTINUE TO STUMBLE ENDLESSLY IN CONFUSION UNLESS THEY REPENT Many have still not repented from idolizing men and honouring men more than God Isaiah 42:8,21 ASV I am Jehovah, that is my name; and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise unto graven images. [21] It pleased Jehovah, for his righteousness' sake, to magnify the law, and make it honorable. Isaiah 33:22 ASV For Jehovah is our judge, Jehovah is our lawgiver, Jehovah is our king; he will save us. Psalm 138:2 ASV I will worship toward thy holy temple, And give thanks unto thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: For thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name. Psalm 148:13 ASV Let them praise the name of Jehovah; For his name alone is exalted; His glory is above the earth and the heavens. Psalm 8:1,9 ASV O Jehovah, our Lord, How excellent is thy name in all the earth, Who hast set thy glory upon the heavens! [9] O Jehovah, our Lord, How excellent is thy name in all the earth! Isaiah 8:13,16,20 ASV Jehovah of hosts, him shall ye sanctify; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread. [16] Bind thou up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples. [20] To the law and to the testimony! if they speak not according to this word, surely there is no morning for them. Isaiah 45:16 ASV They shall be put to shame, yea, confounded, all of them; they shall go into confusion together that are makers of idols. Deuteronomy 18:13,15,18-22 ASV Thou shalt be perfect with Jehovah thy God. [15] Jehovah thy God will raise up unto thee a prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken; [18] I will raise them up a prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee; and I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. [19] And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him. [20] But the prophet, that shall speak a word presumptuously in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, that same prophet shall die. [21] And if thou say in thy heart, How shall we know the word which Jehovah hath not spoken? [22] when a prophet speaketh in the name of Jehovah, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which Jehovah hath not spoken: the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously, thou shalt not be afraid of him. Deuteronomy 13:1-5 ASV If there arise in the midst of thee a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and he give thee a sign or a wonder, [2] and the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them; [3] thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or unto that dreamer of dreams: for Jehovah your God proveth you, to know whether ye love Jehovah your God with all your heart and with all your soul. [4] Ye shall walk after Jehovah your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him. [5] And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death, because he hath spoken rebellion against Jehovah your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed thee out of the house of bondage, to draw thee aside out of the way which Jehovah thy God commanded thee to walk in. So shalt thou put away the evil from the midst of thee. Jeremiah 23:13-17,21,25-28,31-32,35-37 ASV And I have seen folly in the prophets of Samaria; they prophesied by Baal, and caused my people Israel to err. [14] In the prophets of Jerusalem also I have seen a horrible thing: they commit adultery, and walk in lies; and they strengthen the hands of evil-doers, so that none doth return from his wickedness: they are all of them become unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah. [15] Therefore thus saith Jehovah of hosts concerning the prophets: Behold, I will feed them with wormwood, and make them drink the water of gall; for from the prophets of Jerusalem is ungodliness gone forth into all the land. [16] Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they teach you vanity; they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of Jehovah. [17] They say continually unto them that despise me, Jehovah hath said, Ye shall have peace; and unto every one that walketh in the stubbornness of his own heart they say, No evil shall come upon you. [21] I sent not these prophets, yet they ran: I spake not unto them, yet they prophesied. [25] I have heard what the prophets have said, that prophesy lies in my name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed. [26] How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies, even the prophets of the deceit of their own heart? [27] that think to cause my people to forget my name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbor, as their fathers forgat my name for Baal. [28] The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the straw to the wheat? saith Jehovah. [31] Behold, I am against the prophets, saith Jehovah, that use their tongues, and say, He saith. [32] Behold, I am against them that prophesy lying dreams, saith Jehovah, and do tell them, and cause my people to err by their lies, and by their vain boasting: yet I sent them not, nor commanded them; neither do they profit this people at all, saith Jehovah. [35] Thus shall ye say every one to his neighbor, and every one to his brother, What hath Jehovah answered? and, What hath Jehovah spoken? [36] And the burden of Jehovah shall ye mention no more: for every man's own word shall be his burden; for ye have perverted the words of the living God, of Jehovah of hosts our God. [37] Thus shalt thou say to the prophet, What hath Jehovah answered thee? and, What hath Jehovah spoken? Jeremiah 1:4-7 ASV Now the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, [5] Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee, and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee; I have appointed thee a prophet unto the nations. [6] Then said I, Ah, Lord Jehovah! behold, I know not how to speak; for I am a child. [7] But Jehovah said unto me, Say not, I am a child; for to whomsoever I shall send thee thou shalt go, and whatsoever I shall command thee thou shalt speak. Jeremiah 15:16 ASV Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy words were unto me a joy and the rejoicing of my heart: for I am called by thy name, O Jehovah, God of hosts. Ezekiel 3:1-4,10-11,16-17,27 ASV And he said unto me, Son of man, eat that which thou findest; eat this roll, and go, speak unto the house of Israel. [2] So I opened my mouth, and he caused me to eat the roll. [3] And he said unto me, Son of man, cause thy belly to eat, and fill thy bowels with this roll that I give thee. Then did I eat it; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness. [4] And he said unto me, Son of man, go, get thee unto the house of Israel, and speak with my words unto them. [10] Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, all my words that I shall speak unto thee receive in thy heart, and hear with thine ears. [11] And go, get thee to them of the captivity, unto the children of thy people, and speak unto them, and tell them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah; whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear. [16] And it came to pass at the end of seven days, that the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, [17] Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me. [27] But when I speak with thee, I will open thy mouth, and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: He that heareth, let him hear; and he that forbeareth, let him forbear: for they are a rebellious house. Isaiah 30:15 ASV For thus said the Lord Jehovah, the Holy One of Israel, In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength. And ye would not:

TLDR! The Christian Bible in NO way represents what God actually said to us at Mt. Sinai, since Christianity twisted, mistranslated, and bastardized God's original words to us, because they REFUSED to learn the original Hebrew! PLEASE learn from the Orthodox Rabbis, as commanded by God in Deut. 17:8-11. In the absence of the Temple, the Rabbis are our spiritual teachers.
