We're changing the way we split and stack our firewood and two (simple) new tools are helping us out. Using firewood pallets and a splitter deck to make our firewood processing easier and more efficient.

First thing I would do is get that splitter up about a foot. That thing is way to low. I have mine up on a 4x4 and 2x4 and it's still not high enough. I'm only 6ft tall. I have a bad back so any Bending over is not good.

As everybody knows a cord is 4x4x8.If you lay out on the ground 3 rows of 16 inch long pieces of wood and stack it 4 feet high and 8 feet long you have a full honest cord.Your wide racks don't look like they are 4 feet wide. How long are you pieces of fire wood? They look longer than 16 inches.

We cut our sticks at 16”-we built the pallets so they could be picked up by our tractor but you could change up the dimensions as needed. The pallets are 48x60 which works out to 1/5 cord ((4x5x1.3)x 5 = 130 cubic ft, so a little more than a cord really).
