I run that size logs through my wood chipper. It’s great if you only split 10-16” logs. Most don’t !!

Is it me and missing something but i have noticed that all these demo and shows, well maybe not all but most, have perfect rounds. straight grained, nearly symmetrically circular logs. What about those knotty, crotched or twisted chunks that we (or at least me) get in abundance? That is what would sell me to spend several hundred bucks.

That's just not what processors are built for. They're built to maximize output, and in order to do that, they need relatively clean/straight wood. If you want to improve your your output, then you need to improve your input as well and get better wood. I know a lot of guys get free tree service wood that includes a lot of wacky wood. in that case you're limited to cutting everything by hand and you just need a big, bad ass splitter, but you'll need to spend many thousands, not hundreds :)

I wonder if there are any dealers for this processor on the west coast? I'm in Alaska. All its lacking is am out feed conveyor.
@WoodsTreeFarm4 ай бұрын
You can definitely reach out to Halverson directly. Theyre in WI. I'm sure they can get you a machine directly if there aren't any dealers around.

Oh didn't realize you were there. Would have liked to have met up with you. Maybe next year! This venue is about an hour from our farm and it was my first time there. Will definitely be going again

Well you certainly didn't do 2000 cords a year with that slow machine. That thing running a 20 hp honda is gonna burn 20 gallon of gas a cord at that pace. Cool concept but already outdated in todays market.

Good point. I was thinking the controls would be better on the other side of the hydro tank so the operator could handle resplits as well

Looks like it takes longer to cut a round than to split it... cutting is a bottleneck
@WoodsTreeFarm27 күн бұрын
@@5tephenD still faster than using a chainsaw and lifting/moving the round to the splitter
