I am Zuni Pueblo. We'Wha in my tribe's tongue was called a "Lhah-mah" (pronounced thlah-mah). We are all children of God, or Creator. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

You presented such a great description of #twospirit I had heard of the term before but wasn't sure if it was only applied to those identified as gay. Also that's what's sad about colonization is so many traditions get forgotten and lost.

Back in the days before the Intarwebs, back when there were still bookstores … including gay bookstores … I bought several books about same-sex-sexuality in other cultures. • I bought one book that was about the “3rd-gender” present in many of the First Nations of North America. Kinda academic. Still very interesting • Another book I bought was, “The Zuni Man-Woman,” which is all about We'wha. [And IIRC, the title is a literal translation of the Zuni term, “llhamana,” the word for that “3rd-gender” category.] I now keep a list of all of the traditional terms used by the various Native American peoples for their two-spirit members.

Hi JD... this was a Wonderful explanation of Two Spirit... I didn't know they were considered to be Healers. Do you identify as a Healer? Were there any Healers in your community who recognized your Two Spirit-ness before you? If you don't identify as a Healer... think it's time??? I think your KZbin channel is definitely a vehicle to share your gifts, and I recognize the Healer in you.

Ive always thought that such a title isn't one to proclaim for one's self but others see what powers reside in another individual. It is up to the community to turn to those they see as worthy.

..🦊...these are yesterday’s catholic victims,...attacking their own people because of others opinions and views about their sexual identity,...we operate solely on focus,...no views or opinions,...a person’s sexual identity is held sacred,...like the first pipe not to be seen by other’s ,...rawness doesn’t exist with these kid’s nowadays,.....find yourself,.we do accept you as is ,...i see you as undeveloped,..🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾
