At first, being a choir singer, I couldn't stand way Nick sings the titular lyric, but in time... it'd be cliche to say it grew on me, but I think it finally sunk in just what feelings he's trying to get across. He sounds like a warrior turned folk bard, and not some professional classically trained singer. It just... finally hit me how much more that adds to the emotional impact. I approve

Exactly! The more unrefined vocal performance give's it a more personal edge to it befitting about a song revolving around the cries of a battle torn warrior

No, those who deserve to live and those who no. Honestly, the lyrics are cool, just the choir(Battleborn) seems to break the rythm a lot. Should have been kept in a word and assigned to a chorus

"will I fight for the queen or the slave?" is my favorite line of the song because of the heavy morality it implies. basically do you do what you're supposed to do honorably and dutifully or do you disobey and do what you're not supposed to for justice and retribution

@anialator10000008 жыл бұрын
I just realized that a large amount of these lyrics sound like they could be song names by TSFH. "for the queen or slave" "armies and legions" "shadows of war" "black wing of death" "lay at my feet" "to the mainland" "wade across an ocean" "in the way of a storm" "the wolf and the stallion" though especially "heart of courage"
@creatressanna87148 жыл бұрын
+anialator1000000 You know, I kind of can't believe that "Shadows of War" hasn't been used for one of their songs yet! It's just such a…TSFH-y title. I would not be surprised if in the future there were a song titled as such, possibly with a melodious reference to this song. ;) Most people haven't made the connection, but the title "Flight of the Silverbird" may very well be a reference to a line in Back to the Earth, "The flight of a sparrow will end, and the same goes for us." But it may not be, who knows. I do love it when they make those little references though, like in Sariel.

@Haggysack2k88 жыл бұрын
+Motormouth Chopper Battleborn. Because Skyrim was always part of the empire. *AND* Ulfrics Stormcloak is an impostor. Not only, that he killed the High King, he also made very special deals with the Thalmor in the past and that makes him an impostor. And a traitor to his so loved homeland Skyrim.
@Haggysack2k88 жыл бұрын
+Motormouth Chopper I once wanted to play on Stormcloak side (just one time, to know the difference), but as i was doing the main quest i found a the Thalmor note about Ulfric. I finished reading and was like: "Stormcloaks? nope nope nope nope nope, not going to happen now!"
@windradyne87248 жыл бұрын
+Haggysack2k8 Read that note again... I don't think you understood it at the time.
@Haggysack2k88 жыл бұрын
+Windra dyne If you want, i can copy+paste the lines from the quote from the game itself or a wiki-site on the internet. I don't think, that i misread something, because i read that note nearly 10-15 times. Believe it or not, Ulfric is a liar. (Saying something like that about a fictional character...jeez...) Edit: i read it now one more time again (internet). The dossier says, that he was an asset to the thalmor, meaning, that when he came back to Skyrim and while the markarth incident happened, he was some sort of spy for the thalmor, but seems to went rogue after the incident, because (theory) he saw that he was doing a good job and wanted the cake all for himself. So, even if he wasn't a thalmor-spy anymore, when he fought Torygg, he sure as hell was a spy before that happened. And with the killing of the current high-king (Torygg) he got greedy and wanted to rule Skyrim all by himself, instead of allying with the empire troops and fight back the Thalmor in Skyrim. After killing Torygg, he only wanted power and thought that he - while being able to shout - is the next emperor. And sry, but i don't support power-greedy guys only because he can talk so fine.
@windradyne87248 жыл бұрын
If he was a spy they would have called him an agent. No, the Thalmor had him unwittingly bring Markarth back into the Imperial fold so that it could not become independent (the Imperials were about to let it secede). This means that the Thalmor can exercise their strength there, as anything that is not Imperial is untouchable. What made him become uncooperative was the revocation of the right to worship Talos in Markarth. This is what sent him wild with religious fervor. I think it strange that you say he's power-greedy given that he is one of the most selfless people in the game. Galmar: "Then let them die with their false kings!" Ulfric: "We've been soldiers a long time. We know the price of freedom, but people are still weighing things in their hearts." Galmar: "What's left of Skyrim to wager?" Ulfric: "They have families to think off..." He's empathetic, which I can't exactly say for Tullius (although he softens up near the end of the Imperial Campaign which is nice). The only people who call him power-hungry are those who've never met him (Snow-shod) and Imperial Agents (Brunwulf Free-winter). "A stormcloak victory is to be avoided." At the very least, the Thalmor consider a Skyrim ruled by Ulfric to be very bad for them.

I on the other hand like both versions, one of my favourite songs of Battlecry! Since I am a big fan of Les Friction and Globus, seeing TSFH going to that path, makes me so happy! Can't wait for your album with only vocal songs! Two composers with two different views on music and their writing in songs makes it nice and variable and exciting every album you listen to! I don't think the vocals ruined the song at all. In fact, it is my favorite part. At that point i envision the aftermath of a battlefield as Nick sings an ode to war that transpired there.......However the chorus on the other hand. I'm not one to question the gods of music, but i don't think "BAT........TLE.....BORNE!" should ever be said in 3 separate syllables like that

I suppose I'm of the rare opinion that both his singing and the lyrics are really good. Admittedly, I didn't care for it at first, but it quickly grew on me. Same with Star Sky. And as a quick note to those that find the "ba-ttle-born" lyric awkward, the phrase is being syllabically emphasized. I don't think it should be perceived as being that strange a way of singing that phrase. To each their own, though.

There is blood where the battles rage. These are faces I will not remember. Will I fight for the queen or the slave. The treacherous part to play with the heart of courage. Where the wind from the North boats the dragon. And the armies and the legions have formed. we have kept for the knight through the cover. Fading ghosts in the shadows of war. Battle born, Battle born, Battle born, Battle born. Gone, all the villagers let out the pasture, the black wing of death as their legue felt the ground it was bared from the plunder, soldiers that lie at my feet. The maidens were lost waiting across an ocean. On a ship heading south the the mainland. I am standing in the way of the storm. I was raised by the wolf and the stallion. This sword was battle born. Battle born, Battle Born, Battle Born, Battle Born. ~Feel free to correct the lyrics I had issues deciphering~

I'm honestly shocked to see such a negative reaction. When I first heard the lyrics I got excited, I've always been a Globus fan and was psyched to see TSFH trying a similar style.

Took a few tries for me to like this (which is oddly like many other TSFH songs). For some reason I really like the lines "These are faces I will not remember," "The black wing of Death as their liege" and "I was raised by the wolf and the stallion." I'm not one for poetry but I really liked those bits xD

+Merlyn Pyndragon Yeah, this was the first piece by 2steps I genuinely did not like the first time I heard it, but with time I've grown to appreciate many of the lyrics, even the vocalist appeals to me in his own way

Merlyn Pyndragon Give it time, I find something truly magical in that piece, but you have your own preferences so if it doesn't appeal, that's fine, life is too short for listening to music your "supposed" to like.

As with me. At first I didn't like the lyrics, but lately I've been falling in love with this song and now honestly prefer it over the instrumental. Funnily enough, after getting to love this, I tried Back to the Earth, and it's much easier to get into after this. Funny how some things happen like that with TSFH songs, for example, I thought Children of the Sun was "eh" at first but then later I realized OMG THIS IS FREAKING AMAZING. Same has happened with Battleborne here.

@EduNauta959 жыл бұрын
Here come the purists who can't stand what is not orthodoxly epic. Well sorry, Nick's voice is great and fits in the mood of the song. Because, as it turns out, a TSFH song doesn't have to have as an objective 'be the most epic sound bashing song ever', if you think so your musical opinion is very close-minded.
@SuperGman1179 жыл бұрын
Aeduh If someone doesn't like it, then they don't like it. One of the reasons people like TSFH is because of the music they usually create, and not this. With that said, I think it would be wise to rethink your statement, as this does not make someone closed-minded.
@silvettiluca979 жыл бұрын
***** He is right though. It's a psychological reaction that makes them close minded, it's not completely their fault. Let me explain: first of all, it means TSFH is changing, evolving. People don't like change, it scares them, it makes them think everything will change, the reason is very simple. If you listened to the early works of Thomas and Nick you will NOT hear lyrics, but now they're appearing everywhere and who's been here for a while is starting to get worried. Have you ever wondered why you sit always at the same spot at school or anywhere else? It's because you're trying to find a "safe" place where you can't be disturbed and you feel good, because you think you have control over that feeling. Let's say I'm someone who tried to escape the boredom of pop, rap, or something mainstream. If you find music like this, you feel like you're in heaven, reason being, this genre of music is meant to transmit emotion through instruments alone, and my god doest it work! It's amazing. But when I start hearing lyrics (hearing not listening), I feel betrayed. Here starts the mechanism: I like TSFH, personally, a lot. Because the music allows me to see things I wouldn't normally, it's exactly because it's lyrics-less that it works so well, it doesn't try do direct your thoughts towards something through words, words are a constriction. When I first heard lyrics I felt something new was coming, the difference between someone who really enjoys epic music, "comes here for it" when it changes, and the safe spot is "contaminated" and don't like it automatically. Everyone has experienced this in a way or another. Can you imagine Taylor Swift switching to classical or heavy rock music? There would be a riot caused by her fans. Exactly because of the change mechanism.
@SuperGman1179 жыл бұрын
LUCA SILVETTI Or it could be just because of our interests. I mean, I don't feel betrayed or anything. I just get annoyed, because I don't like lyrics.
@silvettiluca979 жыл бұрын
***** Yes, it could be. But the mechanism exists to protect us, it's there for a reason. Some people have control over this, but the people who "come here for *insert anything*" are unfortunately affected by it. You are different from them, the proof is that you don't feel betrayed, just annoyed, as you said. But! Do you get annoyed by ALL songs here with lyrics? If yes, there you go. Mechanism in action. If no, shit, I think you beat one of humanity's worst weaknesses.

@louise69289 жыл бұрын
@benzaldehydeenmilieuacide91289 жыл бұрын
@louise69289 жыл бұрын
