I’ve heard this song live twice. And this time people stood up as soon as they heard the first notes. The works of Two Steps From Hell can be compared to those of Hans Zimmer. We discover them, we listen to them in a loop, then we wait for the next album with impatience. In the meantime, we listen to other music of the composer, which we appreciated without hanging too much. Then we rediscover it, and we end up loving them as much as our favorite compositions. Finally, what makes a great composer is not only to make masterpieces for a certain time, but for eternity
@vaelion9866 жыл бұрын
Florian Remy Except Zimmer is lame compared to TSFH
@starsky3356 жыл бұрын
Hans zimmer music boring you can hear he using same again and again in his music and all same nothing changed unlike tsfh different type epic music
@erazohar67316 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry but what you say does not make much sense. TSFH is a very good band, but they only do epic music, which may seem redundant for people who do not particularly like this type of music. As a result, it is the same for all types of music, singers and composers. And frankly, Hans Zimmer is not a composer who always makes the same music, he follows the rhythm of the times and adapts himself with his own inspiration. The music of the Lion King is not the same as Interstellar for example. Otherwise it is as boring as John Williams, James Horner, Ennio Morricone, Thomas Bergensen and TSFH .... Admit it would be a shame to think so ...
@peacheslamb35466 жыл бұрын
TSFH has done so much more than just epic music though, they've done stuff ranging from romantic comedy to horror to drumscapes to neoclassical to electronic/EDM opera pop. If Bergersen and Phoenix finally decide to break into film scoring, I have no doubt they'd be as versatile and accomplished as Zimmer, if not even more. Their epic music background means they write actual melodies, which seems to be sorely lacking in many modern film scores.
@erazohar67316 жыл бұрын
I wanted to highlight the musical versatility of Hans Zimmer. But I totally agree with you about the versatility of TSFH and Bergensen. That's why I made the comparison in my first post because they are people capable of composing masterpieces, whatever the style and the time.

I started listening Thomas Bergersen's music about 4 years ago. Im pretty sure I have heard some of his songs at least over 100 times maybe even closer to 1000. When I first heard songs like Children of the Sun, Victory, Final Frontier, Illusions, Aura and Sun&Moon I replayed the songs over and over for weeks. I always have 2-5 songs I listen to for like a month and then change them. Now when I replay a song I always remember the feelings and thoughts I had back then when I used to listen to that song a lot. I have so many memories attached to his songs.

Now listen close, now listen well I have a tale to tell It starts not here, in mortal life but starts two steps from hell Two steps you say, Two steps indeed! Tho' Demons sought the fray. We fixed our spears and set our shields. For none shall bar our way! Two steps from hell, Two steps from pain And two from straits of blood We knew that should we there be slain we'd walk where Gods have trod. We saw the blood, we saw the fear and still we battled on. our foe had asked, "why stay ye here? when half your men are gone." I heard the cry, I heard the shout We answered in reply We took his taunt and hurled it back "We've come to win or die!" I see that day, I see that night that night where demons screamed Where shadows danced and comrades died all hope was lost, it seemed. We faced the lord, we faced that foe the last, the lord of sin. My friend and I, the last to stand His horde had slain my kin. That night I cried, That night I prayed for strength to carry on For might to fight and will to stand for hope when hope was gone. I stood with hope, I stood with strength I stood and swung my sword. for the souls of my brethren I struck and then I roared We'll not give up, we'll not give in We'll always fight this tide. I swung my sword and with a groan That prince of Darkness died I sat in blood, I sat in gore and i knew that we'd won We'd slain the beast and lived to tell the tale of Veldann's fall.

The waves crash, and the timbers creak their song in tune with the Ocean's beat. The storm is brutal, but the crew is used to these rough northern storms. They push through, holding hope as the waves crash on and on, that they'll see shore again. Until that -- thing -- came. It was a monster of the sea, a legend of the tales of Beowulf. Its massive tenticles reaching out from the seas to encircle the ship, and bring it inward to the depths. But the crew were stronger than such beasts. They fought, with sword, spear, tooth, and nail, and they showed that beast what a man of the north was made of. The men of the ice lands, men of the cold, barren wastes. The Impossible, their fury unleashed.

Honestly this song reminds me of a great gathering for battle, there are so many different sounding parts that pop in but in the end despite the different tones they return to that same chorus/melody, its like the different groups of sailors or nations coming together to help battle the one enemy. It starts off with a humble group who are thrown unexpectedly against the enemy that has tortured their nation. Yet there is no fear in their hearts, no fear in this song. For a time the waves calm with the arrival of new ships and then the battle begins again as the raging monster fights with more brutality than ever before
