This is my dad's favorite song-he loves Eddie Money! Every time it comes on the radio, my dad goes: " he used to be a cop before he was a rock star!" Can't wait to learn this and surprise him on Father's Day! He'll be so pumped! Well done, my friend!

My original plan for this weekend was to learn Living After Midnight. Then you dropped this on Tuesday, and on my lunch that day this song played at work. So this one it is!

God, it's so f'ing minimally brilliant ! Good to rehash the pop stuff from the 70s. I was a roots rockabilly/country music snob back then and missed out on a whole lot 😂...nice tutorial rundown and history, dude 👍

Jimmy's solo has always been one of my favorite to listen to! I never knew his name until now. Thanks for the history lesson as well as all the great instructional content you put out! I first came across you looking into Pat Travers. Not like the old days of Right place at the Right time. You Rock and you got my Vote!! Thanks, Rockin' Roger

Jimmy Lyon is such an underrated guitarist. He made Eddie's career with his playing on the first few albums. Jimmy had a great sense of melody and an ability to blend major and minor into one solo. His playing on Gamblin' man and Life for the taking is outstanding. Jimmy went on to play with others such as Tina Turner and Greg Kihn. He moved to Florida and became a pilot. Got to speak with him on Facebook a couple times and he is a really cool guy

In addition to Jimmy's guitar work Gary Mallaber was a great drummer who also played with Steve Miller. Thats him on Fly Like An Eagle.

Love this song mainly for Jimmy Lyon's guitar on it. Really good lesson, Kelly, this is one of those solos that is already seared into the mind. I think this is in my wheelhouse though it'll take a few viewings to get it down. Great choice.

Another great video! This is a song I've always known, but never paid enough attention to the guitar. You should cover some more Ozzy/Randy/etc solos - Diary of a Madman, Bark at the Moon.

I read somewhere that Jimmy Lyon left because he was a side man and got paid side man (low) wages even though he was a major contributor for those big hits. At some point he got fed up and moved on. I saw Eddie live back in the late 80's at the Cleveland Coliseum - good times!!
