I come from America, and enjoy the robust protection of my free speech, and I find it truly shocking to see what has happened in the UK. The riots were awful. But I don't think the law was fairly applied between all groups, and seeing some of the things that were said, and the resulting sentencing seems overly harsh, and I'm certain now everyone is afraid of speaking anything critical in regards to the riots for fear that they'd be dragged in next. That all feels far too close to taking steps toward an orwelian future I would not want my cousins from the motherland to have to live in.
