they can be filled with wood filler and you’ll never notice they are there

You can screw dont an old wood floor to stop the squeaking before you but a new floor over its

@@Motor-City_Ben-Diesel But not if most the old wood floor was not screw to the joist. I am currently in this situation. The 1st floor, most of it was not screw to the joist and they install the second floor and screw to the first board. I have many bounce spot because of the this. Home repair, mostly fixing what the first dude incorrectly did it .
