I dont know about the UK but in germany that would be considered „smart casual“ and it would be to informal for a „business casual“ event. Business Casual usually is understood as a suit without the tie. You can get away with a informal twist on that outfit but not much more

Why do people still use the term “button-up” for shirting? They’re all button-*down* shirts because it refers to how the shirt is fastened (i.e. the shirt flap is *buttoned down*). Like a zip-up jacket is called that because it zips up to be fastened.

The shirts are good for the price - much better than high street offerings but not on a par with luxury shirt tailors. The best thing about them is the sheer range of fits and sizes. Because they have such a large product line, I find the quality of their other items to be quite variable. Sadly they have significantly reduced their offering of English made GY welted shoes as they used to be a great place for a bargain during sales. The other good news is that they offer free local returns in many countries so you if you’re not sure about a particular item or sizing it is very easy to return.

I hope you read this message. I have an issue with all “fashion gods” of youtube. No body has address my question. I work at an oily dusty factory 5 days a week 5am thru 4:30 pm. I get home shower eat sleep. But i love to dress nice on the weekends. I love suits but how ridiculous is to dress in suit for the weekend? How much is too much. I have suits i have not use because of embarrassment of what people may think. But is the only 2 or 1 day i could use it. Some times I work 6 days a week. So i wear jeans instead but i wish i could dress more “fancy” but not look like i work in wall street 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅 make a video. Let us know. I don’t think i am the only one.

A focus on shoes, collar, and fabric/print will get you a long way from just casual to smart casual or beyond. I do leather boots with dark jeans and an OCBD and that not only qualifies as business casual at my office, it makes me the best dressed. It also doesn’t stand out as too fancy per much anywhere I travel, which admittedly doesn’t include an oil rig, but does include a manufacturing site where casual is common.
