Was going to work one morning pretty fast. Well actually really fast and noticed a car tryna catch up to me so I slowed down when I realized my bag had got open and my favorite hoodie flew out. Almost lost my iPad Pro too had I not noticed. Hit the u on the high way to find my hoodie about twice. Currently in the lost and found somewhere. This was about 3 years ago on my r6. Just a tip with Lane splitting and weaving through traffic when you exaggerate your Left and right passing it's fun, but it ROBBS YOU OF A SUPER QUICK RECOVERY AS TO A EMERGENCY DIPP IN THE OTHER DIRECTION . SO you can't recover from Left back to the right lane if you over exaggerate your initial Lane change. I know it's fun I still have to stop myself from doing it occasionally. But I think I'm still on a multiple litre bikes at 50 years old and been riding since 16. You don't need to be impounded, I lost a bike to the state of NV for doing 174mph at a deserted straight away at lake Mead national park highway. 15 Grand gone and 30 days in jail+1 suspended sentence and license except for work and then home. That was a Gen 1 BUSA. I have a commuter gsx 650f, a Dad sports touring bike, Hayabusa 2022, and a my sweet ass B-king all Suzuki stable, but I've owned Yamaha when I was younger, Rice burners are by far the best built bikes out there. ANYWAY GET A GOOD RADAR FRONT AND REAR , BI-DIRECTION SCRAMBLER AND DETECTOR IT'S WORTH 15, 16 HUNDRED DOLLARS TO SAVE YOUR BIKE FROM BEING TAKEN BY THE STATE, THEY WILL AT THE SPEED YOU GUYS ROLL. PLUS NO MORE TICKETS!!!!

Keeping it outside with a cover would be good enough to prevent accelerated wear and tear on the cosmetics/mechanical parts (as long as it’s flat ground and water can’t run under the cover). But if theft is a concern then garage would be best. If garage not possible, look into buying a connex type storage containers. If can’t do that, then always park bike in a well lit area, in a place where you know there is cameras you can request footage from or police can request from, other bikes nearby (preferably better/nicer bikes), and make sure it has a cover on it (no brand or name on the cover). Finally, lock it up, put a disc lock on (one that has an audible alarm) to prevent people rolling it away, then lock it up with a u lock (again, with audible alarm) to prevent people from picking it up. This won’t always be effective as people can and sometimes will cut through. But this is the best way to store your bike and prevent theft, and will also save you some on insurance. Also make sure you have theft coverage.
