Having the same van as you made for very interesting reading. We share the same niggles about the top cupboards close to the cab not opening fully, about the sink in the washroom area being too small, about the table storage being unwieldy, and about the fact that when you lift the beds to gain access to the under-bed storage, the supports aren’t strong enough to keep the beds raised. Regarding the table, I made a little platform which allows the table to be stored above the battery under the driver’s side bench seat. So when we’re driving it is stored there and when we stop at a site it gets put in the cab area between the passenger seat and the cab facia. I then store my guitar where the table used to go at the back, and we also put extra coats and a few other things in that area. We actually like the positioning of the TV. We angle the TV towards the passenger side bench seat, and I sit on the bench while my wife sits on the passenger cab seat swivelled round to face the TV. This way we get close to the TV which means we can see and hear it very clearly. We had the TV in the kitchen area in our old van and found it too distant to watch comfortably, so we really like the current set-up. The under-bed storage problem: I have made a little wooden prop, much like an old washing line prop, but very much smaller, with a right-angled notch cut at either end. This holds the raised bed in place when we want to get into the under-bed storage area - really simple but works really well. As for the top cupboard in the bathroom, we’ve put in a couple of narrow lightweight metal basket shelves which are held in place by suction pads. Great for storing lightweight toiletries, e.g. toothbrushes, toothpaste, sun cream, pills, etc. My wife, like Jenny, takes issue with the height of the microwave, and the over sink cupboards in the kitchen. We have used our grill but it takes ages to get up to heat so is little used. But we use the oven quite a bit. We like the size of the fridge and have found that by adjusting the shelf heights we can get an enormous amount in there. At least enough for several days of eating and drinking in. Also for us the size of the freezer isn’t an issue but then we don’t store a loaf in there. We tend to buy fresh every few days and use the freezer for storing frozen meals and ice trays. I would add that I don’t like the freezer door as you have to yank it open and doing so without completely removing the door is a bit of a knack. We have had a problem with shutting the fridge door but get round this by lifting it slightly as we shut it. Like you we’ve had a problem with the door under the kitchen sink not shutting and it’s now been repaired twice under warranty. One other niggle is the rooflight/hatch in the washroom and the fact it doesn’t have a proper blind, only a sunshade. So in summer if you open the washroom door to go to the toilet in the early hours, light floods into the bedroom and can disturb the other person’s slumber. Thanks for sharing your experiences - much appreciated - and all the best for the season and next year’s travelling.
@BobEarnshawMoHo3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for that, some really interesting tips there. Particularly about the table. I will have a think about that. I will also have to try adjusting the TV position when we use it. Not keen on moving it close to the door. Like the suction Cup idea in the washroom cupboard.

Happy Christmas. Your videos really make us smile. We bought the French Bed version of yours after watching all your videos. Really interesting to watch this video a year in for us. We’ve had a magnetic catch lying around in the kitchen cupboard and just realised it must be from the cutlery drawer😂. We also questioned the oven and fridge shelves as the manuals say there should be more but swift came back and said that is all they provide. I did notice you have three shelves in the door and we only have two. Keep the videos coming.

Water everywhere when we turned the tap on!! Take care and stay safe.

Bob I used to struggle to open my Swift Challenger habitation door due to the strength of the magnetic catches. My solution was a circular self adhesive Velcro patch on both sides. This reduced the strength of the magnetic field and also provided a soft Velcro hold. The strength I acquired from pulling the door hold resulted in me braking the now plastic habitation door handle fitted on the Challenger. Handy tip keep a small adjustable spanner in the car in the event that you end up with a broken handle and a tool kit on the inside of the caravan.

hi Bob and Jenny. It was nice to meet you at Trout beck recently. ( We were parked opposite in the 574 Bessacarr ) Unfortunately, it was a pity the fireworks were so loud. I know your dogs don't like the noise and neither does our little dog. At least they didn't go on for too long. Just something I wanted to share with you regarding the position of the TV. I've added another TV bracket in the opposite corner of the lounge, just in the corner where the lounge meets the kitchen if that makes sense. It's the perfect place to watch TV from the Captain chairs or nearside lounge seat. The bracket is identical to the existing one at the front so we use that bracket for travelling and the new one when we are on site. 30 second job to switch the TV from one bracket to the other. Hope you find this helpful. Take care and stay safe.
@BobEarnshawMoHo3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, that's good to know, I think we'd need a smaller TV to do that, ours is an older Avtex and is quite large. I think I'd crack my head on the TV as I came in the door!

@@BobEarnshawMoHo Sorry Bob I don't think I explained myself very well.. Not above the door. But sitting in either of the captains chairs take a line of site to the left and at the end of the left lounge seat in the corner. Bracket is in that corner. Hope that explains better.

I like the three separate zones, separated by doors. Looks almost like a chalet design. Well suited to longer tours.

Hi Bob I fitted a pair of actuators under the bed on the bolero so you just press a button and it goes up and down without any bother. The bed of course is heavier because it's a double.
@BobEarnshawMoHo3 жыл бұрын
That's a good idea. Where did you get them?
@gordonlennox45013 жыл бұрын
@@BobEarnshawMoHo Bob I actually can't remember but there are plenty on Amazon. You would also need a DPDT switch. If I can be of any further help with wiring or fitting let me know.

As you know we have a similar table and I’ve never understood why it had to be that heavy plus 3/4 the size would be better

I probably will when we go on some more interesting roads. The trouble is, I've been changing gear for so many years, my brain is programmed like an auto box. Next one will be an auto!

Thanks, very informative. It seems there were a great many faults that needed fixing under warranty - and that seems to be typical of many motorhome manufacturers. I just can’t bring myself to buy such a faulty product - it’s like British Leyland. I will have to buy a German one or a panel van conversion (and not swift or auto trial)

A motorhome is like a house on wheels. I would be very surprised if there were no snags at all. I know our new house had quite a few.

Hi Bob and Jenny, another great year of watching your videos. Just wondering if you have ever felt the need to fit a fridge fan for those warmer month's.
@BobEarnshawMoHo3 жыл бұрын
No, this fridge has been pretty good for the few days it's been hot in the UK.

Hi Bob and Jenny. Another great video. I noted your comments about the firm suspension. Have you looked into the question of tyre pressures. We have a Malibu campervan and have been given different recommended tyre pressures. The recommended pressure on the Fiat cab door is 5.5 bar all round. However, Malibu recommended pressures are 3.5 bar front and 4.00 bar rear. We run them at 4.00bar front and 4.50bar rear and find this gives a reasonably comfortable ride without compromising handling. Your thoughts on tyre pressures would be appreciated. Best wishes for Christmas and the New Year. Dave and Joan

Yes, I run at 65 psi front and 75 psi rear. 80 psi is far too high all found.
