Every summer while I was in college I worked at a greenhouse/garden center and when we'd plant flower containers we always followed the same pattern and I bet it would work for vegetables, too. So, in your pots and grow bags, plant something that grows slim and tall in the center and then go around, rotating every other position, planting something bushy and then, something trailing. This will ensure plants aren't fighting for sunlight and everyone gets along. :)

It's not the 'tomatoes' and 'peppers', it's the 'peppers' and 'green bean' combo. Green beans prefer neutral soil while peppers prefer slightly acidic soil. Peppers and tomatoes are in the same family so they have similar growth requirements. While Tomatoes & Green beans share some of the same needs, they don't necessarily make good companions; however, you can grow them together (as you've found out).

The plastic not only suppresses/kills off the weeds below it beautifully and warms the plant, it also keeps the squash fruits clean.

Hi Becky. Love your channel 😀 I’m from Tasmania Australia 🇦🇺 and what you call ground cherries we call them goose berries, you can keep the fruit in the fridge so they stay dormant and then you can plant them in the ground and get goose berry plants, well that’s what I was told from a lady at a local market, I have some saved so I can plant this spring, love seeing your garden in full summer form as we are in winter….all the best for them move and just know you are reaching out to all areas around the world ❤️

Celery seed is a spice so you could’ve let it go to seed for seeds to replant next year or you could’ve kept the seed for celery seed which is a lovely spice and tastes a lot like celery a lot of people put it into salads like chicken salad tuna salad etc.

Hi Becky. Those green coriander seeds are AMAZING to use in the kitchen too! Crush them a bit and use them in salsa, curries, salads, white fish dishes, preserve them in brine or ferment them. Delish. They are technically the green fruit that surround the unripe seed so they have a flavour between cilantro and coriander and add an almost lemony zing to dishes. Give them a try.

You definitely need to transplant your flowers! Most, if not all, of your flowers are perennials. There is a lot of money and love in your garden so make sure to take as much as you can. My parents moved to China (for my Dad’s work) for 4 years and before they sold their home they transplanted at least a few of every variety of my Mom’s perennials to our home for a temporary home until they moved back. Now, not only do I have a beautiful floral garden, but my Mom has all her original plantings. Do you have family or friends to come help with your garden this year? You have so much on your plate, plus growing a tiny human. If I were closer, I would volunteer to come weed and help you harvest just for the fun of it. Love the garden tour!

Thank you for sharing with us! I am So Excited for the new houses garden plans. Did you know that Basil makes a Great companion plant for tomatoes? Both do better when grown side by side. Also if you plant canandula on the borders of plants bugs really love- like your brassica - bugs will be repelled. Chickens also Adore canandula flowers and it makes the egg yolks brighter and creamier. When I had my sons I used a linen ring sling and just carried my babies on me so I could garden and get things done. It made life so much easier. Happy gardening!

Labeling Tip: Pencils work well for marking labels. They're erasable and reusable and don't fade in the sun! I'm relatively new to your channel & absolutely loving it so far! You're doing all that I've dreamed of over the years, especially the bulk freezer meals & extensive food storage/preservation. Thank you so much for your inspiration, new ideas & pleasant personality!! 😊💛🌿

What a delightful garden tour. Thank you so so much. I'm especially enjoying your garden because where I live in Southern CA we are having a terrible drought and are on SEVERE water restriction. Add the daily over 100 degree temps this summer (104 today) and influx of ground squirrels and I don't have my normal garden this year.

If you've never had pear pickle, you should try it! Oh my goodness! Probably my favorite kind of sweet pickle is pear. I spoon it over my green beans, cabbage, and crowder peas. Yum! I also love pear preserves. I canned pear halves a couple years ago to make pear salad (a southern thang) which is made by putting a dollop of mayo on the pear and adding grated shsrp cheddar on top. Love it!

You can use the leaves and flowers of the Echinacea plant! You can also take the plant with you! When I harvest the root, I dig around the ball and take half. Then I put the dirt back really good and it always does well.

I love your videos. I've always thought about gardening but I feel like I kill everything inside. After watching a ton of your videos I decided to just stick it in the ground and give it a try. I already have things popping up and feel so encouraged by watching you. I agree learning by experimenting in your area is the best way to grow. Thank you for pushing me to start growing my own food. Your garden is amazing.

If you transplant them just make sure you take some of the soil that they're already in and then put it in a hole in your new house and that way when they grow The Roots will get used to the new soil at the same time

In the new house are you going to separate your produce and flower beds? I think you should transplant at least one of your blueberry plants as well as the herbs and medicinal plants you have in your garden. If you do get a greenhouse or even a growing tunnel you may find growing the ginger/turmeric easier in respect of starting the growing process. But this is someone from England 🏴 saying this! Good luck with the house move. Remember to rest when needed 🇬🇧🙂
