I've had this same tank since March, and haven't had any major problems. I do have problems with the tank retaining humidity in the winter, but I do have a glass lid for it that I can use if I choose to do that. Also, it's great to see that you're back. I thought you fell off the face of the earth!

Nice to see you back! I can’t believe it’s been 2 years since you set this tank up! I remember the build video. Times flies. I have the same tank. I’m in the process of starting to plant it.

Hi nice set up, isn't the light supposed to shine through the mesh so the frogs get the UVB?

I got this tank around the same time you got yours as my first and only dart tank. Its holding up really well! I pretty much agree with all of your points. I do have flies escape and there are a couple places where the top has gaps. Ive also used electrical tape to seal some parts like the tube intake holes in the back and the gaps in the front door. I also have a mist king system set up and used your twist tie method which really helped. I recently replaced my tubing because it had cracked and i wasnt able to get the new tubing as snug in the top so it rattles a bit and isnt hidden very well. Ill hopefully get around to fixing that. I dont mind the screen portion of the top. I like using plastic wrap to control the ventilation. I have two adult alalapadu cobalts that seem to be happy and thriving in the tank. Thanks for the update!

Great video! I wonder if you only have a led light on the glass strip, does the light reach the upper back wall? It seems like the glass strip is too far to the front of the tank, so that the light does not have a chance to reach the back very good? And is the front lower vent fruit fly safe, or have you had flies escape through that?

I use these exclusively for all my darts. I use the 24” version though. Definitely worth the extra cost for the increased height IMO. Certainly not totally fly proof but miles better than the original at keeping them in. Especially if feeding Hydei.

Planning on getting some dart frogs soon. Are the auto-misting systems a must or should I just go with manual misting? And if I do go with manual misting, how often should I expect to have to mist it? Btw, I live in Utah where the climate is very dry.
@NorthernFrogger6 ай бұрын
I would highly recommend an auto misting system, especially if you have a busy schedule or like to travel at all. It's good piece of mind even if you just want to go out of town for a weekend or something. But, it's not required, if you can provide a consistent misting schedule doing it manually, and you have someone that can take over the misting duties if you are not home, then manual misting can work fine too. It's hard to say exact frequency, as it will depend on your local climate and enclosure design, but 1-2 times per day is probably a good baseline to start, and then monitor humidity levels until you get a feel for how much is needed for your situation

My local pet smart here in Alberta is switching to the thrive brand and I got 2 of the 18x18x18 dart frog tanks for 99$ each, 2 of the 18x18x12 reg exoterras for 90$ and 70$ and the 36x18x12 reg exoterra for 170$. hopefully they will put the other 36x18x18 reg exoterra on clearence soon too lol. I gotta say the dart frog tanks are some of the nicest I have had and cant wait to set them up, I think even if I payed retail for them it would have been worth it they are really clean. Im thinking about the "new river" darts for 1 and my gf will set the other up with her choice.

I just bought this because it went on sale. Now just waiting for all the other parts and pieces to go on sale as well. What misting system do you recommend for multiple tanks? I have all kinds of reptiles but now beginning my amphibious collection, starting with green tree frog and now onto dart frogs. Thanks!

I highly recommend the Mist King systems

Where do you get the red and yellow dispenser nozzle that doesn’t dry up??????????????????
@NorthernFrogger Жыл бұрын
Are you talking about the expanding foam? If so that nozzle just comes built in with some cans of the foam, it can't be bought separately as far as I know. It allows you to use a single can for multiple uses, but it still only works for a single can of foam, it can't be removed and transferred between cans. Not every store seemed to have the reusable nozzle cans, and I haven't bought foam in so long I can't be totally sure they are still making that style, but I always found them on the same shelf as the rest of the foam... The cans with the reusable nozzle are usually a couple dollars more expensive too.
