I honestly don't understand how people can laugh at such poor role models like Alan Harper, George Costanza from Seinfeld, or any of the "guys" from Friends. Adult infancy is never funny, especially when it becomes perpetual. The very minimum to be an adult male is to a have a steady job, own your own house/car and never accept a woman who doesn't respect you. NEVER! Alan not only failed on all those criteria, but he was also cheap, ungrateful, and way too effeminate, to the point of dating a transgender and kissing Walden. It's just too much, he has absolutely no redeeming qualities by the end of the show. Jone Cryer is a fantastic actor, but the writers slaughtered Alan on the altar of cheap comedy. They did even worse with Jake, BTW. Instead of making them grow up throughout the show, they made them increasingly child-like. Which is quite remarkable given that Jake started as a child. 😥
