I have perfect landings at our field every time, because I use SAFE every time. At first, they had a laugh but knew I had perfect landings every time it began to make sense, why. You can set up the rudders to do some outward airbraking. You can also mix them inward with elevator to achieve a more stable pull post-stall. Add in some crow mix and you have potential for optimum post-stall flight.

The elevators and rudders can be adjusted easily but the wings are on quick connectors that mix into a FMS PCB, making it difficult if not outright impossible to set up crow without serious work - unless it's relatively easy to do, we usually shy away from it because it won't accurately represent what the average pilot will be willing to do to a model. Separating the elevators is easy though - that way we can set up tailerons and improve the roll rate for more agility. That is something we do plan to set up.

@@TwoBrosRC I forgot about those quick connectors. They have a 5v lead, a ground lead, and 2 signal leads. If you were to figure out which leads are signal wires, you could just plug those into a receiver as long as the power bus for each wing (pcb) was plugged in. But yeah, I know what you're saying. Lots of people won't go that far for the performance boost.

That's a good idea, but the problem then lies in figuring out how to split that without damaging a ribbon cable. Therein lies our conundrum.

You should convert a JET to DJI FPV with headtracker that would be a memorable experience. if you need help you may need to check Blackstar FPV channel

Jon, would you say that a jet needs gyro during fast or slow flight or both? I thought that planes would be unstable during high speed flying.

It's more necessary during slow flight when turbulence and instability resulting from CG will be more pronounced. We prefer having a gyro running to smooth out patches of rough air and to help keep the model tracking without drift issues caused by turbulence.

I definitely DO 👍 the dual servos on rudder & elevator! The endless possibilities of mixes! Y have an nx10se, & not use ALL 10 channels 🤪!

Just unhooked the elevators from the PCB and ran it as a taileron setup with a trimmable nosewheel. Dual rudders probably won't do much for this jet though.

Jon I'm sure this came with an outrunner motor and not the inrunner viper one. Did they change it throughout its lifespan? Cheers

Probably came with an outrunner at one point, but it definitely uses the Viper motor now.

I think the real question here is…. How do you compare it to the viper 90mm?

They're pretty similar, but the Viper wins out because it's more capable in rolls and the ailerons can be easily set up for crow. The Scorpion basically locks you into a standard aileron setup unless you want to rewire the wings.
