Nearly a year later, we upgraded the Freewing F-14 80mm twin 1680kv outrunners to 1920kv inrunners. The exact motors we used are here: www.motionrc.c... - you'll also need a pair of 100 amp ESCs. The MiG-29 ESCs will do the trick: www.motionrc.c...
Here's both setups you can try out for yourselves:

Technically, the Freewing F-14 is a D model “Super Tomcat” already. (At least in terms of the airframe design) But, I see what you did there, and I must say, it looks even better with the upgrades (if that’s possible!)

@@TwoBrosRC Ha! Oh, so you know how Freewing sells 8s power systems? Do you think it would be a worthwhile investment to put 8s in the F-14?
@TwoBrosRC

@@aerospacematt9147 We generally don't believe in adding wing loading for additional thrust. The idea is to reduce weight, not add to it. The model is already extremely heavy. Adding an 8s system to it is not going to help any stall characteristics.

I use the 80mm 12 blade with the 3658kv 1920 kv , and 120 amp hobbywing esc. Before I try the 9b 1920 and the 12b 1857kv. Installed In F14, Mig 29, Avanti, Griphen, Mig21, F5. And i love much more than the original combo. Ok more amp draw but now the vertical is more than ok 😉

Very informative video, decent footage with multiple view added through was very nice. The FW F-14 Tomcat is a expert level jet for the seasoned pilot. The intermediate level pilot would have there hands full and probably end up crashing it in a stall. The upgrades are wonderful and as you stated much needed. Alpha/ Motion RC should probably offer a V2 of this with the upgrades installed. Including the landing gear beef up.Would it be worth the price increase?

@TwoBrosRC oh, any particular reason? I see the just airframe go up often and I've seen the reviews. To me it seems like with the FWD swept wings people don't know how drastically the CG and center of lift shift on them. I know Banana hobby has some iffy reviews but like I said I've really contemplated on getting just the airframe and putting in spektrum servos and a much needed power upgrade, along with the proper location of CG with Center of lift (that the totally fun part) on it. I know the SU-47 isn't particularly are favored aircraft cause it looks wrong 😅 it's on top to me with the F-14, F-104, P-63, and P-38 lightning.

It doesn't have to be beyond 90 degrees AoA.
@friendlyreptile9931
@friendlyreptile9931 Жыл бұрын
@@TwoBrosRC I'm sorry but it has to be be. The definition is that the plane is in level flight and than pitches at least vertical (90°) while remaining at almost level flight, and then levels to a regular flight attitude. Everything else is not a cobra manouver and you can do your own research about that maneuver that is also known as "Pougachev maneuver". I also have to add that this fact dosn't make your video and flight skills less impressive.
@TwoBrosRC
@TwoBrosRC Жыл бұрын
@@friendlyreptile9931 There is no requirement to exceed 90 AoA for a cobra maneuver. All that's required is a vertical pitch up moment without gaining much altitude, with a return to level controlled flight. Anything else is embellishment.
@friendlyreptile9931
@friendlyreptile9931 Жыл бұрын
@@TwoBrosRC I have to disagree on that.The reason why it's called cobra, is b.c. the snake "stands" almost straight up with it's head a bit to it's back to scare away predators. It was first flown by "Viktor Pugatschov" and seen by the world at the "Le Bourget" airshow in 1989. His definition is that you have to reach between 100°-130° and since he invented it, that is also the official definition that you can find with just a bit of research. The AoA limiter of the SU27, limit's the AoA to 29° and needs to be manualy turned off to archive that. I know that a lot of people call stuff like we see in this video "cobra" and say "the F22 can do it b.c. it has thrust vectoring" but it's both wrong. The reason why the SU27 is able to archive that (it has no thrust vectoring), is that the plane is build in a way that it flies very instable without the computer system b.c. it is designed tailheavy.
@TwoBrosRC
@TwoBrosRC Жыл бұрын
@@friendlyreptile9931 It was invented by Swedish Draken pilots and was demonstrated long before any Russian pilot performed the maneuver. You're welcome to disagree but every valid source we use for aerobatic performances does not require 120 AoA.
