As an England fan, we really needed this, I must admit, I got quite emotional when the ball was kicked out the field at the end. A real dog fight the full 80 minutes. France, considering the amount of mistakes they made with the handling errors, they made some fantastic trys, but I know they will learn from this and rebuild for their next game. Well played France, thank you for a fantastic match. I'm off to walk off the emotions, le crunch for a reason xD

Old Irish supporter: Fierce craic altogether! A grand win for England. This exemplifies one of the reasons why the 6N's is such a grand thing. 6 Nations is all we need up here in the far North. It is our jewel and we have enough polishers of it. Never have I shouted the English on. I did for the first time in 66 years today, but by the Holy One, I feel no shame for it. The fellas saved their Head Coach's neck. Losing: especially to the French, on English soil doesn't sit well with ERFU hierachy. It looks bad in the papers and their huge cash bonuses can't be "deflected".

I don’t often root for England, but today I did. They were the better team, and deserved to win. Fin Smith was exceptional at 10. He and Mitchell are the best 9-10 combo England have. Marcus Smith at 15 is a real conundrum. Outstanding on attack, abysmal on defense. The French were running around him all day long. Yes, he brings more balance than Steward, who costs England a try or two every game without having Marcus’ upside, but once Furbank is back, he should retrieve the 15 jumper. Also, Marcus absolutely shanked two relatively doable kicks, costing England 5 points. He was a liability defensively, but also great in attack and broken play. Maybe he’s the ideal 23, covering both 10 and 15. I doubted Borthwick’s triple playmaker plan, but he proved me wrong, and I’ll happily eat the crow. All the Slade critics should rinse their mouths and be quiet. The guy is an excellent player, his botched kick for touch notwithstanding. He can create something out of nothing offensively, his timing of pass is just outstanding, it opens up space for his runners. Two super important details had a large impact on this game. 1) England had more or less parity at scrum, which I didn’t expect, and 2) they won the game in the cursed 4th quarter, which is exactly where they have been losing them up to now. This is great news for England. A massive, and fully deserved win.

@SchmozzleGTO
@SchmozzleGTO 3 сағат бұрын
@cpt.8778 no chance of Slam, you joking? Ireland is on a massive hardcore 1 game winning streak ;), MOMENTUM. There's clearly, obviously, categorically "a chance", per Scotlands "chance" ... "No chance" is objectively incorrect... Subjectively, Ireland show up and play at 80%, they beat Scotland- Scotland are a world beating team on their day. But any sensible rugby person knows a Scot win is them on fire, Ireland below par- can totally happen but the teams form and bookies odds are accurately Ireland win (zero arrogance, Im stating facts- which includes Scotland are a great team and could win). .. Then, barring an incredible and uncharachteristic implosion/staggeringly brilliantly shock Italian, or even more shocking insanely wildly better than form Welsh performance, the 6N, as per the odds, comes down to France winning in fortress Lansdowne, and to an increasingly strong looking Ireland (H1 vs H2 of Ireland's 1st game winning streak established the trend : I ) and vs now (post Eng match) not as strong as I thought France... A Slam is on. Objective fact. But lets survive Murrayfield first... Being excited about our prospects is the joy of 6N... if Scot fans and team can talk winning the 6N, as everyone pre-tourney talked a French win/slam, including me and a lot of Irish rugby fans. So if Scot n France are in the chat, then Ireland surely are- highest ranked and in form, OBJECTIVELY. Irish fans arent being arrogant hoping our lads will win... on back of games so far, historic 3 in a row is on, journey to SLAM IS ON!!!!! Objective fact till c.5pm Sunday when "vs Scotland" finishes at very least. COME ON IRELAND WOOOP.

Too many handling errors for France in the first half. I feel the score should have been 28-7 at half time but so many made tries were lost to a dropped ball. We let England alive at half time and we let them hopes. Our skills under high balls have to be reviewed. It feels more like France has lost that game than England has won it. Thanks for video Two Cents. Not many of us English fans or media were giving us much of a chance against a French side full of generational talent. There's a feeling Finn Smith's game is more suited to international rugby than Marcus and in that showing their could be some mileage in that. I'm mostly impressed with how our forwards went going toe to toe with a much vaunted French pack. Tom Curry I didn't have much confidence in him getting back to his pre injury level but will eat my words. He was a beast. I really thought they'd snatched defeat from the jaws of victory as loosing becomes a habit. Need to kick on from here though as there have been one off win under Borthwick. Getting the Calcutta back and beating Italy and Wales will have England finally going in the right direction. Championship is still all to play for, the balls in Irelands court. I expected France to win it and they may still.

I fully expected France's forwards to steam roll the English pack, especially in the scrum. As it turned out the English pack did make a hash of their line-outs, but the scrum, maul and breakdown was about as good as you could hope for against such strong pack. I liked Finn Baxter's response to getting pinged at the scrum - he took it on the chin and attacked and mullered his opposite number from then on, looks like he might merit the hype he's been getting. :)

The French defeat is mostly due to French back line backfiring and making handling mistakes, resulting in so few points scored. It’s well known it’s more tiring to attack than to defend. Attacking without scoring drains your energy and you saw that in the end, with the French players exhausted.

I commented on a different channel that it’s dangerous to try and second guess 6N games based on the previous one. With few exceptions, each game exists in its own context and there are nation dynamics at play that often override the (over-emphasised) “momentum” narrative that pundits _love_ to talk about. There’s no doubt about it, we were lucky today but these things do often go in cycles and we rode the luck and conditions effectively. Having watched England for 45 years, these are the best games to win. Now if the Scots win tomorrow, things will _really_ open up😂

finn smiths goal line kicks indirectly led to 6 points for france, he was only getting 35-40 meters, which was not taking the pressure off. it always seems, even when we english end up losing that it's earl, everywhere, all the time trying to drag us kicking and screaming to a win, this time though, the sheer work rate of curry i think earns him MOTM

Proper test match that and very exciting to watch as a neutral. Well done England for hanging in there for the 80 mins and clinching it at the end. This is what they have been missing for some time now and to get one over on France of all teams was was just what they needed. France will be kicking themselves for all the handling errors they made and the missed opportunities that could have put them out of sight. England have to kick on from here and get a win over Scotland in the next game and if they do they could very well be in the mix come the last weekend. This makes tomorrow's game even more compelling now.

It seemed so obvious, but the Northampton backline make things much easier for England. You're only missing Furbank and Dingwall from the eligible Northampton backline and Dingwall for Slade doesn't seem crazy to me.

England were really up for it and were pretty impressive. A lot of players stood up to be counted. They managed to do to France for 80 minutes that they did against us for 40 minutes. I predicted a tight win for England but wasn't really believing my own prediction. The game was chaotically entertaining at times. England deserved it, and congrats from an Ireland fan. If we can beat Scotland tomorrow, then Wales, I won't be quite as worried about France coming to Dublin. Have all my fingers crossed for a bonus point win against Scotland tomorrow.

As a French fan, What a weird match to watch. France had around 10 occasions to score 10 tries, but the meteo and a certain art of being clumsy changed everything. That's what we love in rugby. Everything can happen. Congrats to England for the resilience, France needs to put some glue on their hands

Well well well so many fans rooting fro England we'll ever have the Boks onside soon lmao. Only kidding it is really great to see the world in Union. This was like the wet games of the Northern hemisphere in the 70s and 80's. I see that everyone is attacking like Ireland with a deep player/loop around. Makes for great watching.

Great match and well deserved by England. Unfortunately 2 missed tries by individual errors by France and atypical penalty miss from Ramos. England hang on by a thread, this is an upset. France still favorite to win the tournament, Ireland is close behind.

He was onside from the box kick and then there was no ruck after that so there's no more offsides. I think anyways, the replays all started after that point

Bonjour. It was more the French who lost this match than the English who won it. What unusual technical weaknesses on the French side! The ball was covered in soap for them to let it fall out of their hands so many times? O_o They missed because of that, 3 to 4 tries that were ready-made, and that would have finished the match for France well before the end. It was also a technically weak match on both sides. This year again it's Ireland who will win the Tournament...

France lost the game rather than England winning it with all respect to England. I am so disappointed by the number of handling errors, especially in the first half. Jalibert missing half his tackles is a severe professional failure at this level. Gutted, to be fair, by the end result, but fair play to England; although not a great display, it was a clean and disputed game overall. I can only hope Scotland springs a pleasant surprise tomorrow on Ireland, and then it becomes a 4-horses race to the title.
