The speed of the train is different based on different terrain. If you travel in northern China where there are mostly plains, the speed is indeed 350 for the whole journey. But in southern China where there tends to be mountainous, the train will reduce speed according to the terrain. Also the speed depends on which type of train you are on. If your train number starts with a G, this is the 350 km/h train. If your train number starts with a D, it will go up to only 200km/h.

1. foreigners (including HK residents) can go to the "manual" gate with a guard sitting at, to check them into the station by showing passport. the ID card scanner does not work other than locals. 2. Your identity (passport of ID card) is your ticket. No physical paper tickets issued. 3. That was Chinese tea (not English tea), therefore no sugar. 4. You'll be surprised how amazing CQ is going to be. 😀

For all the foreign friends, if you're going to travel in China for a long time. I would recommend you to purchase a physical t-union transportation card from the counter, for around 20 rmb. then You can use it all over China for metro and public bus. you only need to top it up from time to time from the machine or counter. If you have smart phone or band with nfc, Even better, you can purchase a NFC T-union card, and use your phone or band. make sure you purchase the card with t-union sign on it, otherwise you can only use the card locally.
