This song is very emotional. It's about him being bullied for his weight and all the crap he went through when he was 14 and in middle school. It's about getting revenge for all the pain. Released Anger through his music. It hits home especially for those who were bullied in school when they were younger. All of their music has a message. They're deep.

@@cypherusuh they've actually said that the Freeza song is meant to be an allegory for the tibetan genocide, but they didn't want to just straight up sing "free Tibet", so sometimes their songs are both comedic and deep at the same time.

Front man and the main growler/heavy vocals is Daisuke Tsuda (Daisuke Han), Bassists/Backup Vocals Futoshi Uehara (Ue-Chan), Guitarist/Vocals Ryo Kawakita (Maximum the Ryo-Kun), and finally Drummer/Vocalist (Also Ryo’s older sister) Nao Kawakita (Nao).

Favorite band as well and actually to answer the other person's reply, my favorite album actually happens to be the album Yoshu Fukushu, due to the fact that some of my favorite songs (including the title song because that song actually resonated with me upon finding out what it's supposedly about) but also, a version of the purcahseable cd comes with an anthological manga, and that's definitely a bonus!

So glad you enjoyed this song! MTH is incredible. This song is actually about the Guitarist Ryu. He was bullied a lot in school, so this song is about wanting to take revenge and ultimately realizing it’s not worth it. So instead he’ll just pour out his pain and anger through music. Fun fact, Nao (the drummer) is the main inspiration for Akane from Band Maid to start playing music. You definitely earned a subscriber here!

Their actual name is written in katakana. Katakana is the Japanese alphabet used for borrowed words from other languages. ホルモン or hormone Horumonyaki (Japanese: ホルモン焼き) is a kind of Japanese cuisine made from beef or pork discarded parts. The name horumon is derived from the word "hormone", which means "stimulation" in Greek. The name horumon is also similar to the Kansai dialect term hōrumon (放る物), which means "discarded goods". What does this have to do with this band? When asked about the group's name in an interview, Maximum the Ryo-kun stated "Take it as you like, it means anything from the Japanese cuisine for cooking animal innards to the sensation of the maximum amount of your hormones coming to the boil! Although when we go abroad people think we’re just some sorta sexual energy drink." "Hormone" (or horumon) is a style of yakiniku (Japanese BBQ) where many of the typically discarded internal organs are grilled in bite sized pieces and eaten. P.S. I did the wikipedia work for you. 🤣🤣

This was awesome 😊 My favorite Maximum the Hormone song. I love the transitions in this one and the uplifting feeling and I can relate to this song. It is about school bullying and making it through childhood. The image of students jumping from their school roofs to commit suicide seems very prominent in Japan. This is what the ending hints at but then we see her driving back home telling us that suicide is not the answer. We need to stand up and fight for ourselves and others :) I know the world tour is over for now and Dir en grey will most likely not give you just as many clicks as Babymetal, Band-Maid or Maximum the Hormone will but if you are truly searching for the tip of the iceberg Dir en grey's Vinushka is a good point to start. Please save the link if you consider a reaction or do a live version because there is a promotion edit and a restricted video which need to be avoided ^^'' kzbin.info/www/bejne/b5CZo4OvrL1jfpY This band and the singers second project sukekiyo mean a lot to me and most of their fans because they create art which really touches your soul, makes you think, research and consequently learn more about human nature and see the world from different perspectives. If you give them a chance I am sure you would find a lot in their music and I would really love to listen to them with you and through your eyes and ears because I enjoy your reactions so much ^-^ Thank you for all this and have a good day~ 🤍

To be fair, most of the top tracks off of Buiikikeasu are very different from their usual style, including the titular song itself, missing a lot of their signature changeups. I've been a long time fan of the band and while What's Up People is far from my favorite track, I still respect how it might place a bit higher for someone else, especially if it has the compounded sentiment of being the song that got them into the band. Plus ya gotta remember that the anime is like 14 years old. Foreigners discovering a band like this just by running into them online or getting it suggested to them was a lot less likely back then.

Hey Grannies! Thank you for the amazing international week! Like you, I've only recently gotten into metal. Please, Please, please please! add this amazing Chilean band called Mawiza Ñi Piwke. They are a Mapuche (indigenous tribe in Chile) and sing this amazing song called Nunca Seremos Dichosos ("We will never be happy"). The song is sung in the Mapuche language and they sing about native autonomy. It's really great!

Please react to Ningen Isu. This is a Japanese metal band that's inspired by the Black Sabbath. They are quite old guys but anyway they are pretty cool guys😄

Drummer Nao is Guitarist Ryo's elder sister and used to try to defend him when he was bullied for his weight in school.

NAO is probably the most influential drummer in Japanese rock/metal; Akane Hirosa, amongst others, cites her as her major influence, not least because she is a woman drummer.

I dunno if anyone aaid anything about the song, but it dealt with school bullying, specifically the lead guitarists, Ryu, being bullied during school. (The drummer is his older sister as well, Nao, an influential drummer in japan)

I don't understand it but I loved this. I'm sure I'll love it even more, after I need find translations for everything on screen and spoken. The emotion just lines up so amazing with the video. Please do another International week! Like Granny Haze, I liked some more than others. But I think it's great to explore and appreciate new things. I also found so many new bands to continue to explore.

Loved their sound ever since first hearing "Zetsubou Billy" and "What's Up People" while watching the original Death Note anime in 2008

Hello, Grannies. I am a new subscriber. I found you last night and I love your videos. Thank you for the videos. I might suggest the band Ghost. They are great music, the first song I heard of theirs was Square Hammer. It gave me a Blue Oyster Cult feel and I loved it.

I absolutely love the channel 🤘. I’m a huge fan of Japanese metal if you’re interested in more bands. here’s some recommendations let me hear by fear and loathing in Las Vegas, blaze a trail by noisycell , farewell to words by envy.

If you like japanese metal bands, the group "Dir en Grey" is a must ! ( personal favorite song would be "Macabre") If you want to try some French metal with a lady singer, I advise to try "ETHS" , their most famous song would be "Crucifere" but there are many more worth it ^_^ Thank you for taking time to react to all those songs, listening to your reaction during my free time is always worth it :D

Paz Pino he’s such a good guy, too. He does a lot of technical music producing stuff on Twitch if you’re into that sort of thing. Now if we can get the TRG’s to look at him! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

@@wtglb I watched a live version of him do Kingdom. It was MIND BLOWING!! I grew up singing in choir so just loved all the operatic singing combined with the metal guitar playing. I'm so surprised I never heard of him, especially since I live in Vancouver, Canada.
