The opera one hit me hard. The voice as an instrument is one of the most inconsistent and infuriating of all time. I bet you he was perfectly fine a couple hours ago, and maybe a mistake (shouting at something, sick, or just a low quality vocal day) ruined his entire performance. I’m a young bass, and not having access to my lower range in a performance is a constant fear for me. Even worse, a mistake that big could lead to him never performing again.

@samevans12895 жыл бұрын
I felt so bad for him, it just shows how much control you need for opera and how fickle the voice is.
@devintheguru5 жыл бұрын
The voice isn't really that fickle. It literally can be completely reliable as any instrument that's properly tuned. True, some days won't be as great as others, but the vocal cords can still carry you through. (Dimash's performance of the Diva Dance at his Bastau concert is a perfect example of a voice that's at that master level of perfect pitch, flawless technique, and full resonance. He performed this song near the end of his concert as well, so talk about vocal endurance!) It's really in the technique, and the voice seems fickle because many people don't train the effectively, in the sense that they aren't in tune with their body. Each note is basically a different arrangement of articulation of the vocal cords and throat muscles, and there's a sweet spot of perfect resonance that optimizes your use of air. It's totally possible he was nervous or stressed, and so he strained as he went higher. I can hear clearly that he isn't producing a healthy sound, and that his vocal cords are on the brink of failure. I was hoping that wouldn't be the case, but then he kept going at it and if you listen closely, you can hear the distortion in his voice increase. That tells you that he's not resonating from the sweet spot for that particular note. It's possible he was just not on his A game. A simple strain on the cords can cause the vocal cords start producing dissonance which throws the vibration off causing the voice to give out when you pass a threshold. Whatever the case, remember to stay focused and connected with your body so that you are aware of how your vocal instrument is doing and know the extent you can go, so that when you're performing, you can make adjustments in your intensity so that you don't over exert yourself and have a vocal failure. When I sense that I'm not in tip top shape, I'll use a larger mouth than normal to boost resonance, and then cut back some of the airflow to lessen the physical strain on the vocal cords, which also softens the vibrato. (This is a technique I used to develop stamina for belting in mixed voice as well. The vocal cords are muscles, so practicing at a lower intensity for longer periods boosts your endurance safely. It's like yoga for your vocal cords, basically. We're looking to get strong, but very flexible muscles, and that's essentially going to help you boost your vocal range as well.) Hope some of this helps! #singingforlife 💖
@samevans12895 жыл бұрын
@@devintheguru I wouldn't know really. I like to sing and I practice on my own and I know it can be trained even tho I have an average voice, and it's so satisfying when I get what I'm trying for after putting in some practice of that particular part of a song. I bet singing lessons would help anyone, regardless of how much natural "talent" they have, it just depends how much you get what the teacher wants you to do with your voice, and your ability to exercise that control over your voice. But I assumed singing opera it's a bit more challenging than just normal singing. I mean when he went wrong his voice got _all over the place_ not just a bit.Thanks for your tips! :) Btw, just a q, if you don't mind and think you could help: all my life when I sang around the house I sang very low in volume (because of my neighbours) and in a higher pitch than what I noticed it's my normal singing voice when I got the chance to sing in a normal volume. When I sing low volume, higher pitch, I can hit a lot more notes than when I sing normally; when I sing at normal volume, my voice gets too low for my capabilities, and when I try for the same higher pitch I use when I "whisper-sing", it's too high😅. Why do you think that is, and do you think the former hurts my voice? I can't seem to find where my voice should be at, you know, like when you adapt a song that's too low for your voice instead of singing it in the same pitch the original singer sings it in. Feel free to ignore the q if you don't have the time or knowledge or don't feel like answering. 😝

That fake Barbie was legit. She was really doing that. You could tell by the way her left hand was workin' it. First player had never seen a violin before though, so not fair. Give her points for knowing that you are supposed to hold at least some part of it under your chin.

Except calling it "wrong" is more of a value judgment and is simply a reaction to an unfinished thought. It's transposed, and there's nothing wrong with that, and furthermore with good reason (it's called the range of the instrument).
