If viola is made fun of so much and people know violin exists and violin is one of the most popular instruments with massive repertoire then why do people choose to play Viola?
@lizziesmusicmaking
@lizziesmusicmaking Жыл бұрын
@@Tenchi707 Twoset violin is joking about the horrors of viola. There's good reasons to pick the viola, from the deeper, richer sound than the violin to the fact that there are relatively few violists while every orchestra and string quartet needs them - the supply to demand ratio is much better than the violin so if you get good at viola it is easier to find groups that want and need you. Kind of like playing bassoon, oboe or french horn compared to flute or clarinet. If you want to play professionally in an orchestra, viola is a good instrument to pick. And violas do sound very nice. They generally play an inner voice in the orchestra and don't tend to get as many solos as the violin or cello, and therefore get a bit overlooked when people are picking an instrument to learn. They also need you to learn alto clef, which is a rarely-used clef and this seems to scare many people away from switching to viola from something else.

@@annaquinn9995 So the more accurate thing is "blowing in my mouth" than "spitting in my mouth?" Also I think spit getting released in the embouchure would ruin woodwinds in general, and is probably fundamental to that (I play flute and oboe, and for oboe controlling spit is key so the water won't clog the reed or something)

@@slen9658 It's a combination of 'sylwioszek' and 'bajki'. 'Sylwioszek' is a diminutive variation of the name Sylwia (not that anyone is using it as such, it's just a nickname my classmate and I came up with years ago); 'bajki' is a plural form of 'bajka', and mean 'fairy tales' and 'fairy tale' respectively.

@@psi9899 Physically it is plausible. The note is created by the standing wave(s) between the mouthpiece and the exit holes down the pipe. Now since - waves can layer on top of each other - you can induce those waves from both ends - the pitch is defined by the distance between the two ends of the wave, it should be possible to play two notes on the same flute like that.
