My son and I stayed at K River a couple years ago. Had fun, even though it rained almost the entire time. Ah yes....you found one of Oklahoma's toll roads! The year we went to K River, we were coming back across the Indian Nation Turnpike, and ran through the hardest rain ive EVER experienced. We got off the pike at McAlester, Oklahoma, and holed up in a little convenience store for 2 hours. It finally let up some, we went on across town to a Mcdonalds, got a burger, and coffee. When we came out, the sky had cleared completely, and we continued on to Kansas without another drop of rain. As soaked as we were, and our bikes were, we STILL had Oklahoma red dirt EVERYWHERE on our bikes. Didnt think id EVER get it all cleaned off! The Talahina Drive is awesome! Ive got to get back down there, and ride it again.

I agree with you, tolls for bikers are a real nuisance, stop, gloves off, find money or card, use machines in Europe- autoroutes (freeways)- in France, Ireland, Italy, Spain and Portugal, tunnels in Austria and Switzerland. Money or wallet securely placed in jacket, double check secure and zip closed, gloves on, start up and away you go. How much damage or wear and tear is generated by bikes on the highway itself. Far more efficient to let bikes go through toll for free via narrow lane, never happen though, problem for trailer if towed by a bike?

@@jkentsan And the £45.00 fine if you inadvertently go through a mid motorway toll booth. Electronic tag does not have a bike rate option, some continental motorway companies charge same rate for bike and car. I wish the EU would standardise motorway toll systems across EU, not classe rates with bikes being free, failing that a bike lane at toll, charge one third car rate, never happen. Generally I set sat nav to avoid toll motorways unless in a hurry or a boring very long ride. A26 from Calais is free and the A75 was free years ago, not sure of current tolling arrangements.

I was at the k river last year. I think there were a total of 4 folks camping in the whole area. It was really peaceful. Loved it. I would go out for a day ride or most of the day. Come back and soak in the river. One of the most relaxing times I have had. In group rides I like being atleast half way back so I can hear the rumble of the bikes. Oh. The water in the showers. Smell was terrible. It was well water. But after 2 or 3 days I got use to it.

Talked to store people to learn more. About 20 minutes. Went to bike to leave as its was late in the day. My bike had been vandalized. On the way out to the road I found more. Both mirrors glass had been pulled out and mirror glass fell out. Thanks to Muth mirror wires both did not break. Will not return. I rode with all brands of bikes. But there are haters out there.

Group rides can be very tricky, but if you ride in the same group long enough everyone kinda gets in sync and then it's awesome. Communications with CB or Blue tooth is very helpful. Your group probably used hand signals I assume. I know some riders who refuse to ride in a group. Your hesitancy is very understandable. You touched on the edge of issues probably only riders may understand. The views were outstanding once again. Thanks for sharing.

Not to rain on anyone's parade or anything, and I love your channel and both of you are so awesome. I wish I could be doing what you guys are doing! I respect police officers, but did you know that the blue line flag is actually, technically, a violation of the U.S. Flag Code? Its ironic that it is on the uniforms and cars of law enforcement, since it really is against federal law. Just my 2 cents.
@fairbanksjp3 жыл бұрын
The United States Flag Code establishes advisory rules for display and care of the national flag of the United States of America. ... Although it remains part of codified federal law, it is not enforceable due to the Supreme Court of the United States finding it unconstitutional in United States v. Eichman. U.S. Flag Code is officially written in law and appears in Title 4 and Title 36 of U.S. Code. It was written and approved by Congress and is officially a law. But, unlike many other laws, there are no federal punishments or enforcement for citizens who don’t follow the code. “The Flag Code does not prescribe any penalties for non-compliance nor does it include enforcement provisions; rather the Code functions simply as a guide to be voluntarily followed by civilians and civilian groups,” The Congressional Report reads. Now, lets get back to enjoy some great travel documentaries by this awesome couple. Sometimes, you find yourself in the middle of nowhere; and Sometimes, in the middle of nowhere, you find yourself. Ride safe!

Proper spacing is mainly dictated by speed, road conditions, and ability. Everyone is entitled to as much wiggle-room as they need to feel safe but if the bike in front of you is 2 blocks ahead then you're doing it wrong and probably aren't ready for a large group ride. I grew up riding in a major city with a lot of congestion where you get used to having less space, so group rides were a lot less intimidating & much easier to get used to. There were 5,000 riders in my first large run & 15,000 showed up for the next one. I'd only done a half dozen small runs before that but didn't find the transition to a large parade to be that difficult. Just keep your head on a swivel, look as far ahead as you can, & pay attention to the best practices for the size group you're riding in.

I've been on a couple of poker runs some of them run in a total group where you have a road captain and then some of them are kind of a free for all where you might have maybe four bikes at a time or maybe the group might be a little bit bigger but they all end up at the same 5 bars to get their cards drawn the ones that I usually run on are for cancer one is for research and another one is to help the family of a child that is stricken with cancer
