Couple of things to modify/ change in Xpluse 200 if you decide on Xpluse 200 (I have a Xpluse 200 fi 2 valve model but this applies to both 2v and 4v versions) 1. Use fully synthetic engine oil 2. Get it service at a hero premia showroom before you start the ride 3. Change the front sprocket to 14 t from 13t (it will make Highway ride easy without compromising off road capabilities) (turkish modes get it as stock ) 4. Get the starter relay checked out (Above mentioned from hero service centre) 5. Install a centre stand and check the condition of side stand 6. Seat form is quite soft so change it to rally seat or get high density foam seat installed custom from a local shop (its not that costly) Himalayan is better as a highway machine Stay away from BS4 MODELS GET A BS6 BIKE XPLUSE OR HIMALAYAN APPLIES TO BOTH

Check which X-pulse is it, try and find if the 4V is available. 4V should cost you about 1,10,000 (roughly € 1100) . If it's 2fi (2 valves but has fuel injection) should cost around 90k to100k. If it's an earlier model that has carburettor then atmost 80k. But whatever you decide don't buy the himalayan 411 from 2017 the chassis is prone to cracking and has multiple issues.

Great adventure ! I drove a Bullet 500 for a week and it was pure bliss. But a lot of vibrations in the hands so horrible after two hours of driving. Then I tried the Himalayan for a day on small roads in Kerala and I fell in love with it. Whatever the condition of the road, it goes everywhere straight almost without flinching, it is extremely comfortable, don't mind the weight ! It is a good thing to test them before and I recommend the Himalayan. If you go up the hills, remebre honda Xpulse torque is : 17.35 Nm @ 6500 rpm and himalayan 37 Nm @ 4000 rpm

They are not being fooled my man. That’s a slightly higher rate of course than what Let’s say I as an Indian would buy it for but still that’s a fare pricing according to me as the ultimate goal would be to sell it off later their trip. Considering the brand new price of that exact bike they are buying would be around 1.6-1.7 lakh (1600-1700 pounds) on road Delhi at that time of its sale nowadays these go for 1.9-2 lakhs easily on road brand new ones, getting them for 1200 pounds (1.2 ish lakhs) is a fair deal. Maybe it has been too long for you being away from India, those days of getting scammed on every other step has gone by. Stick to not educate anyone about India you knew because there’s a contrast of how things worked back when you were here to how things roll nowadays.💙

The Himalayan BS4s are reliable and powerful beasts, suited for all terrains. They are far far more comfortable for long trips than the tiny Xpulse, I reckon. Hii.. All the very best for your journey. Quick suggestions - Mostly incline towards the Himalayan since its spares are widely available and it is a lot more comfortable than the Xpulse. Greetings from India, it's a good choice to buy xpulse 200 over himalayan 411 coz himalayan has chassis issue and not everyone is capable to fix if brokedown. And parts are also costlier and have availability issues in some regions of India as you toor accross country

The bike dealer y'all spoke to seems to be pretty damn knowledgeable and knows his bikes well❤ very few dealers know the ride inside out.

See if you can get the 4 Valve head called the Xpulse 4V over the 2 Valve head Xpulse 200. it can do anywhere and everywhere, but the average speed drops to 80kmph

How very cool guys! What an epic adventure once again! What an awesome place to go bike shopping. That sounds like a great deal buying the bike and selling it back afterwards. So simple! I'm looking forward to this series as always! ❤

You should take himalayan 450 as it has wide array of things that you can do while riding across India. Additionally you can try looking for a hero maverick 440x for her on low ride. Xpulse is good too but may lack some basic gps , rain control , anti skid features (if tyres are old). For low ride honda cbr is also a good option for her with 400cc and a better torque.

You need a capable tourer for highway that has a bit more oomph than xpulse. Once you try it you will get to know. Himalayan at that price has no match. Sure you can take xpulse on more bad roads but off roading will towards the end of your journey if you are starting from south. Go for any Enfield, any damn mechanic can fix them in India.

Make sure go upto Umling La. The worlds highest motorable road. Forget Khardung La, its packed full of mini bus loads of tourists.

I have a suggestion- If you want both for cruising and light offroad, you can go for Dominar 400. It is a bike made by Bajaj, almost a 100year old company making reliable and good products. This company has proved their products in rigorous conditions like of Africa.

Lavi looks to have similar length legs to me. I had a Himalayan and got it lowered because being on my toes was an issue for commuting on our busy pot holed mountain roads - I couldn't always pick & choose where I stopped 😅. I loved riding it after that. I'd be nervous touring on a tall top heavy bike so the lighter bike is a better option in my opinion. The Himalayan has a fairly wide seat too which makes a difference for us shorties touching the ground. I hate being short!!

Might have been an idea to take one of each bike and swap over half way so you get to try 2 on the same ride. Back to back comparisons make them more realistic.

xpulse is a very good bike for touring and off roading, i have been doing off roading in it for quite few years from leh ladakh to zanskar valley. if you think its a bit higher for you , you can adjust the rear shocker. spare cheaper parts and much reliable than the others

Good to see you two riding. Xpulse 200 is a great choice, much better and reliable than Himalayan. We’re a rider community based in Chandigarh, Punjab. We would love to host you once you ride through here on the way to Ladakh.
