I have both. I love the ink capacity of the Twisbi, it goes a long time on a fill. I don't know if I am odd, but I have never been happy with cartridge fill. I put in a cartridge, and I wait, and eventually it starts writing, or doesn't. My theory is that the act of drawing ink up through the nib and feed already wets everything down inside. Side point--the clip on the Lamy is nearly indestructible, you can clip it to anything. Makes a good 'beater' pen.

I have two Lamy Safari and one Al-Star. I have three TWSBI, one Eco and two Vac 700R. All six are inked and use daily. Between the Lamy and TWSBI my TWSBI writes better. As far as nib size, I use EF, F and M. in both brands. My Vac 700r are for my long writing sessions. The Lamys are my traveling pens.

lol.. "have one of each"... that's ridiculous. If you're watching this video you will have multiple of each.

While I love the timeless design of the Lamy and its robustness, TWSBI wins for me because of its nib with a bit of softness - not flexy, just bit of elasticity. Lamy nib is a hard nail in comparison. I draw with my pens so my reference is the following: if you like a hard pencil (HB - 2H and so) get a Lamy; if you prefer softer pencils (2B - 6B) stay with the TWSBI nib

Lamy has a left hand nib and they are easy to swap as you mentioned.

I think the Twsbi has better nibs than Lamy. Good writers, the Lamy is a good writer also and if you do not like ink on your hands the Lamy wins. My wife pairs all of her Twsbi's with matching inks.

Lamy Safari all the way, they are durable, write well and have a ton of customization options to them, Twsbis are nice but they are fragile and not nearly as customizable.

Do you keep a pen in your car? Seems the heat would be a factor: we're hot here in NC also.

No, its way too hot here

I have one of each and love them both. But the TWSBI wins the looks competition, but the Lamy is easier to use and more functional to use. Sort of like utilitarian vs utiletieriene', Depends on my bougie factor for the day.

Lol people are so aggressive about this topic.

This reminds me of the old South Park episode where everyone has to vote between a Giant Douche and Turd Sandwich. There are no winners here. TWSBI's look cool but break when you look at them funny, and Lamy is the equivalent of attaching an ink sac to an old rusty nail.

Interesting… I have never broken a TWSBI. People bang on about that…. But it’s old news. Those issues have been sorted

Lamy offers a left hand nib easy to swap out.

Twsbi eco is better as is a piston filled, nib is more solid, the whole pen is built like a tank. Lamy Safari is lame, cartridge/converter, cheap nib, stupid modern "tripod" grip. I practice traditional penmanship and we don't use this modern tripod grip. I'd pick eco any day.

@gordonhall9943 I am fairly new to Fountain pens and the trigrip helped me alot. I agree eco is a better pen though.
