As a neighbour from the south (Israel), I really wish I could go climb in Lebanon and meet some awesome local climbers. Peace should come from climbing. Awesome country! I envy the Lebanese climbers!

Really fell like this guy would be even better than Ondra if he would have stayed in sport climbing. May he rest in peace, absolute legend to the whole mountaineering community.

Perilous climbing, any thing could happen and it did. But this is very well dodged in « extremis ». The country is amazingly beautiful like no where in the world.

An amazing climb. What a beautiful place. I do have a question how or who placed the anchors? Do they drop in from above first or What? Thanks for any insight into the process.

If its new how is it already bolted for sport? Unless they bolted it before the first ascent i guess.....
@EvanSchiewe9 жыл бұрын
+Nathaniel Singer That's how most of the world's hardest climbs are put up. The climber either bolts from the top or on aid, then tries to free it as a sport climb.

David has a drill on his harness at 2:47
@philipppuchner11156 жыл бұрын
he seemed to have bolted the route himself. As 2:47 shows. Before that in the video it was said that they searched for a route and then ... someone aided it. So he bolted it and tried to free it.

Climbing is more like an art because, for something to be art it need to have no purpose other than itself.

@Alaric well its a bit like a dance, isn't it? There is a lot of grace, beauty during execution which is basically self-expression. That's also why climbers look for variations and different climbing conditions

The thing about la dura dura is that it is 50m long and overhanging all the way. Sure, roofs are a special kind of monster, but a 15 move roof section still requires less endurance than a 50m overhang.

This form of climbing is really an art! The art of dying. Only bungee jumping without rope is more risky -:) All these idiots are dying sooner or later ....

So now this beautiful wonder of the nature is destroyed by climbing hooks … Well, I like Lama and his skills are awesome. But some places should stay untouched, I mean untouched by permanent human installations. Of course people can climb there. But was it not possible to attache the safety rope somewhere else above the hole? More respecct to the nature please.
@arneboveng37565 жыл бұрын
Well then, that would be toproping; not really what climbers at that level are looking for. I agree with you though, this "crag" should not be bolted. RIP David Lama.
