I have an OP-1 and while I can afford a TX-6, I still think this price is insane. It’s ok to make quality products with a matching price tag but the main goal of a musical instrument company should be to empower more and more people to make music. This product, although amazing, makes me wonder if Teenage Engineering is more focused on being a luxury brand first.
@parkerhordon2 жыл бұрын
Couldn't have said it better myself! The jam videos I make revolve around elektrons ecosystem which I feel gives you an infinitely better price to feature ratio. While not inexpensive, they're boxes boast world class features that have served as an entry for many into the music making world, the op-1 is a subjective instrument, having owned one, I believe its a hipster toy that's super fun for travel. It has many flaws that stop it from becoming the insturment that many people make it out to be. But it's a luxury, now a days look at any other battery powered or portable instrument, the circuit tracks, m8, Blackbox, the digitakt is stretching a bit but you get the idea. These are instruments that you can take with you and integrate into a larger setup. The op-1 can do wonders in a portable ambient field recording function but the second you introduce bouncing tracks, syncing, and the lack of features that other synths have such as parameter locking on any elektron machine, it crumbles into a novelty. The clothing, overpriced gadgets and branding are showing the decline of TE from a serious audio centered company into a brand, it's sad because developments of an op-2 would be so great if they could wrap up the problems of the previous generation models. Thanks for listening to my Ted talk.

There are dozens of 12-16 channel USB mixers for under $200. You can get a Zoom R16 that also multirrack RECORDS 32 channels, and doesn't just mix/USB interface, for 200-300. For 400 and up, a new Zoom L12-24. For what this costs you can get a friggen Tascam R24!! All full size mix/multitracker/USB interfaces, with pre-amps, effects, XLR, 48v phantom power, the list goes on. Ones that RECORD AUDIO and not just mix. You know, real fucking mixers and not plastic miniaturized scams. If you want something tiny, Zoom and Tascam make whole lines of 4-6-8+ channel field recorders for less, which are actual pieces of durable professional audio equipment. Often with their own very good condenser mics build in. For about half the price or less. If you just need a tiny 3.5mm MIXER ONLY, like this, you can get a good one for literally 50-100 bucks. I lost all respect for T.E. after this one. I used to admire them. But this is just taking advantage of people who don't know better. And I'm sure it's made for 1/20th that price by near slave labor in Asia. Stop supporting this. I know it looks cool and minimalist. But this is just insulting.

All completely backpack-able with real wires and faders, And I am not locked up, isolated in my little studio. It is changing the way I create music. Am I missing something? It's a stereo mixer with 6 different jacks, numbered individually... so is it 3 tracks in total or are each mono jack is being converted to stereo??
@teenageengineering2 жыл бұрын
it is 6 stereo inputs that can be individually configured as mono, stereo or split, meaning up to 12 mono inputs.
@brightorangeblackvoid64452 жыл бұрын
@@teenageengineering that makes even less sense... there are six inputs in total, stereo is 2, mono is 1
@xfghffhfg2 жыл бұрын
@@brightorangeblackvoid6445 6 stereo jacks are 12 mono.

1200 for a stripped down 6 channel mixer? even at half the price i'd give it a pass

does it receive midi clock somehow to sync delay fx?
@teenageengineering2 жыл бұрын
yes. it uses the internal tempo, midi over usb or bluetooth.

Can anybody point me in a direction to learn the ins-&-outs of all those things listed under "systems menu"? Setting up music studio for my son, and having hard time wrapping my head around differentiating "midi controls" and what even is a "BLE"? A "channel" is diff from a "track" right? ...a book? ...a course? ... anybody?

Maybe for $1.2 I'd expect something made for adult fingers
