Love seeing Ty. My favorite game of all time was the win against number Miami. I was at that game and never once set down. I was suppose to speak in church the next day and couldn't because I lost my voice during that game. Ty is not only a great QB, but one of the finest individuals I have ever met. He came over one day and watch us team rope and even went out to dinner with us as a reward for my son Ray who had just won the state spelling bee. Ray was a huge fan of Ty (attended every home game with me and the 91 Holiday bowl) and it was a thrill for him to have dinner with Ty. BTW, my second youngest son is named Ty. Named after Ty Detmer.

Ty Detmer was absolutely the best! The year he got the Heisman was the funnest year. Every game was so great. I still have my newspaper about Ty. He was loved not just for his quarterback abilities, but also his good nature. Thanks Ty for the memories!

On the Heisman weekend, they put a T on top of the Y at BYU. The whole school partied - LDS style.

I remember the Washington State game Ty's freshman year. He blocked a defensive lineman. I will never forget that giant lineman looking down at Ty in astonishment.

@@ysguysliveHey, I have a great story about me, LaVell Edwards and Ty Detmer that very few people know. Ask Ty how a red sticker got blamed for their horrible loss to Hawaii?? Tell him the girl responsible, me, says hi again!! No joke. Ask him!

I think the only way you could improve on an interview with my all time favorite BYU quarterback, Ty Detmer (still have his Heisman poster that they gave away at the BYU Bookstore) would be to have him and Chris Smith on together. Pure comedy gold.

We’ll work on that for next time, Scott. Thanks!

Fun story…while watching my grandson playing bb last Feb or so in Gilbert, Az I see a guy afterwards that looks so familiar I start talking to him and ask if we were in the same ward at some point or if we had home teaching assignments to each other…he says-“I don’t think so, my name is Ty Detmer”. I jokingly said, oh yeah…I’ve heard of you, you played ping pong or something. We both laughed and went on our way. Nice guy!

My dad bears a little bit of resemblance to Ty Detmer, enough to where every once in a while people will come up and stare at him then kind of say “Are you Ty Detmer?” Which has always been a source of amusement to my family. But just now scrolling on KZbin I saw the thumbnail and said “Is that my dad on a KZbin video?”

Thanks for your comment, Jackson. Maybe we should have your dad on the show! Celebrity “look-alikes”. Haha!

Missed an opportunity to hear a good story about why he was wearing a sling (from rumors I heard down down here in Arizona)
