@@menatplaywithballoons7005 Did you happen to realize this is the only negative comment of any kind. Should be informative as well as self reflection. It's ok to grow up and it's for sure ok to hear words you may not choose to say with out letting them effect you in anyway. There is no place you can go in public with out being exposed words you choose not to use it is. Rey easy to train yourself to just ignore them so they don't even register rather then choosing to get triggered by something so insignificant that can only effect you if you let it. Again only negative comment I saw should really be an eye opener and self awareness. Sadly I am sure it likely will go a totally different direction that is more inline with the original negative comment. One can hope so worth a try at least. Wishing only the best always !!!

Trying to understand how TY accomplished side-slip on his landing? Are those ‘flap-erons’? Can you roll wings with those? Agree … Great Skills here!
@scottbeyer101
@scottbeyer101 Жыл бұрын
@@stevegyro1 I've watched this section several times now. I practise PO180 to land as often as possible, so forward slipping is something I get special joy out of. But I've never done them without 40 degree flaps (PA-28). Ty's wing looks pretty clean on the round out. What gives?
@stevegyro1
@stevegyro1 Жыл бұрын
@@scottbeyer101 dunno for certain. Notice the larger gap between trailing edge each wing, and lead edge of each flap, on these ‘Kit Fox’ experimentals. I’ve notice this design on other LSA or experimental A/C. May act like ‘VG’s’, keeping more smooth air over flap surface +. This would make more effective at lower speeds, imho. Think his ‘side slip’ in video was for the ‘camera’ for dramatic affect. Side slipping is to adjust for crosswinds, as you know. There did not appear to be any crosswinds from viewing his flare and roll-out. Btw, what is your altitude loss in a PO180 in your PA28? My maule (MXT-7) averages 850-900 ft loss.
@scottbeyer101
@scottbeyer101 Жыл бұрын
@@stevegyro1 We side-slip (crab) for Xwind. The forward slip is for dropping like a rock but WITHOUT a commensurate airspeed gain. Couple weeks ago (when we had all the smoke here) the pattern was empty and tower gave me repeated "short approach" clearance. Abeam the numbers, idle power at 1000AGL and pull up for best glide. Then nose down for base turn for a 1/8 to 1/4 mile final. Once runway is assured, full flaps, bank hard with nose WAY down base to final. Once roughly aligned (and WAY to high) aileron into the x-wind, full opposite rudder, and a hearty nose down attitude. This way, you can peg the VSI (2000ft/min) and only be doing 80kts. The entire side fuselage and vertical stab act like a speed brake. Maules look like awesome planes. Which model you got?

Reminds me of when I went to an amusement park with a GF when I was a teen. I went on the roller coaster of death. Got off feeling nauseous. She asked "are you okay"? Me trying to be macho said "I'm good". Just to prove to her I was the man, We went on another dizzying ride. I fought so hard not to upchuck... Dry heaving for like 5 minutes over a trash can after the second ride. She laughed her ass off that I was crazy enough to keep pushing it. But That's how we pilot types roll... Always pushing beyond what a regular guy would. Good job man!

Love your channel. Wish I had your editing skills. Glad you enjoyed our little Mecca. We are fortunate to fly back there often as it’s about a 20 minute flight in. Your crew did it right in that you took the time to “stop and smell the roses” at the strips instead of simply bagging and taking off again. That’s what those strips were intended to be……access to an extremely special place. Well done. Here’s a “locals” tip that helps flying in the tight canyons: When broadcasting “in the blind”, it’s most useful to other canyon flyers if one simply says their aircraft, present position in relation to familiar landmarks, ALTITUDE, direction of flight. For example: KitfoxXxxx, over cabin creek at 6500, upstream for Big Creek. Short and sweet…….starting and ending with “ backcountry traffic” isn’t helpful…….except it does tell the locals that an out-of- towner is somewhere nearby😊😊. See you on your return flight.

We have a 3 to 4 hour stretch of road from Tsitsikamma to Mosselbay called the garden route (by road) that is absolutely stunning that I like to refer to as the garden of Eden in South Africa. From what I saw in this episode I think there there must be more than one Garden of Eden on this planet. Absolutely stunning visuals. That formation landing was epic. Take care of yourself Trent. Interesting is that most skin cancers are found on the right hand side of our faces and arms in South Africa oposite to you fellas as we drive on the right hand side of the car (left hand side of the road). Flying on the other hand is obviously international on the left for fixed wing. I always make it a point to wear a cap during the day on my bald head. My pops had to have cancer cut out and that did not look good at all. I hope to skip that. Kind regards.

I live in California, and so far my worst skin cancer bit (that need procedure and stitches and dressings) was on the left side of my face. I'm more conscious now of trying to use the sun visor in my car. Some of the newer cars actually have extensions on the sun visor for more coverage. And for the guys who wear baseball caps, their ears aren't protected.
