I love seeing Westbrook get his flowers, but also shoutout to Paul George who publicly stated how he wanted Russ on the team. That definitely motivated the clippers to get him. That’s a real brother that looked out for Russ when many teams didn’t see the positive in him.

@DFizzle-ni6lk
@DFizzle-ni6lk Жыл бұрын
He’s not necessarily a victim but he sure as hell was made to be the blame for their lack of success during his tenure. The team had no shooting or defense his first season there. Lebron and Ad missed Damn near half the season. Yet he was all over sports media made to be the problem. We all know Russ can’t shoot. We all know about the careless turnovers. Why would you trade for him? Why would you trade for a ball dominant player when you already have one that does the same things but better? Could he have played better? Yes Could he have taken more accountability? Absolutely. But the slander that man received to his play and character was crazy. Not to mention… Lakers get a haul of decent players for him that actually fit around lebron and Ad. But people make it seem like they just traded Russ for one other player and then got better.
@atlien1988
@atlien1988 Жыл бұрын
He was a victim of the circumstances. Statistically, he played better donning th Purple & Gold than with the clippers. I remember when everyone in the media focused on his missed shots last season, while ignoring that he finished the year shooting better from the field than Steph. The same people that ridiculed him for th turnovers or poor 3pt shooting rarely if ever spoke out about LeBron who had essentially just as many turnovers & shooting as poorly from deep. Russ was made the scapegoat for all of the Lakers' known issues & this is coming from a Lakers' fan. The organization & media hung him out to dry.

He's been bounced around the league every season. I feel like the Russ thing has two sides. Yes, it is true that he was terrible on the Lakers, but how can we expect someone to succeed in a situation where only his flaws are highlighted because of the poor team construction at the time. The other side tho are the Russ apologists. We just can’t say that he was not a negative player. Although on the Clippers, he fits better and is playing better, he still has his flaws and that’s not a knock on him. He played great defense in the Suns series. Do you mean to tell me he couldn’t be that for all the teams he played for? Russ is Russ and he is not perfect, but people should be more objective on him. Personally, I am not really a fan of his game but I can acknowledge that he is great and plays his hardest (on offense at least lol). I wish him success on the Clippers as they have a chance to be really good this coming season.

I’ll say this about Russ… He was bad on the lakers. Going from the 22 11 11 player in Washington to the lakers he’s looked completely different. Part of it was age. Part of it was not fine tuning his game. Part of it was not adjusting to a new role. That being said… bigger parts of it was the poor roster construction and the 2 superstars being unhealthy. There was no spacing on that lakers team for Russ to operate. There was even times he shared the floor with Ad,Lebron, Dwight and Tht or Rondo. Where the hell is the shooting? And the two best shooters they had couldn’t play a lick of defense.Lebron and Ad missed damn near half the season. How could they build chemistry? Then the next season you get younger but still have g league talent(aside from Reaves) playing with Russ and no spacing. His flaws were amplified even more. And he runs the fast break and pushes the pace. But didn’t play with guys who could run the floor with him.

There’s 2 sides to the Russ debate. There are the fans who look at total stats and think he’s great. And then there are the fans who look at efficiency and think he’s terrible. @@erikdayne5429 I agree, but let's not act like he wasn't that in every team he has played for. On the lakers, the team's construction only amplified his flaws even more. People get it mixed up, no one hates Russ , it’s just he’s wasn’t a good fit on the lakers, he’s like a F1 car that never wins the race, love his effort but there’s a reason he’s been on 5 teams in 4 years, but I’m glad he seems to have found a place with the clippers

I don’t see why players aren’t seeking out the Doctor that healed Russ. Russ tore his ACL and nobody remembers because he plays like it never happened. If only Rose, Kawhi, PG and others would seek out that same Doctor.

It's really insane people forget about other professional roles that contribute off the court. Y'all had trainers and staff in the school system, so why would that not apply especially to professional athletes 💀

I think we need another PG unless man is going to assume that role and work on learning how to run the offense from the position A pick and roll power forward next to Zubac That can rebound. We have to many old sf playing pf that don't have the athletic abilities to roll to the rim and another back up center to replace plumlee. The current style of team isn't to Leonard's strengths on off or def. We need to meemic the rip Hamilton style off for Leonard and you need traditional style pf/c to truly run that offense Size and physicality at thoughts positions on the screens to delay the defenders off ball. Morris and batum aren't it and we could find 2 guys in the g league to replace them for cheaper and trade there cap. We have enough vets without them I'd like to actually see p. George take the role of PG going forward and take the buillips role on the team and put Powell in the starting lineup for extra offense. Go younger on the bench. In the bubble we lost To Denver because of key weaknesses we still have 1. We were to old could not capitalize on stops fast breaks or lose balls 2. To much iso and there are better scores in iso then Leonard or George especially. 3. To many duplicates at sf/pf . Lack of rebounding talent 4. No playmaking at PG With Russ we have one guy but he can't shoot and mann plays 3 positions on the team if he is going to be back up point we need him to focus on playmaking spot up shooting and def

Russ is one of the best point guards to ever play basketball. Folks needs to stop watching morons like Skip Bayless talk about Russ and start watching what his coaches and teammates and other players say about him. I swear whenever I discuss Russ with someone they sound like just watched a Skip Bayless segment man. Just blurting out false narratives. Fans gotta stop being media sheep. Russ is a LEGEND and deserves nothing but respect

As a laker fan I’m happy to see russ find another team the criticism wasn’t all fair sure he played bad even horrible at time but it was never the right fit so I blame lebron and the front office plus westbrook didn’t take games off you know how many people in that situation would of been like fuck this a la Ben Simmons so I’m just happy for Russ and no I’ll will

Man, coaches need to man up and coach and demand from their players, in a uniform uplifting way. Now a days, these coaches are the players’ friend. But I understand, there’s push from management and players need to be coddled 🙄

I mean you load manage to have have them be available for the playoff then you are in the playoffs and you can’t go when it counts. You sat out an whole season damn near and you don’t have them throughout the playoffs. The money is there but the player isn’t. At some point you are exposing the fact that, their body just don’t have it, especially for the type of money you are paying them. You don’t want load management to get the criticism that it gets, but if it don’t benefit the team for its purpose then, give the money that they demanded in negotiations back to the fans and the organization because that same money could have brought in someone who could perhaps would be just enough in your absence to get them over the hump. It’s ok to have loyalty to your teammates but we aren’t fools it’s moments like this where a player says I’ve given the NBA all I could give and my body isn’t holding up. At this point I’m cheating the organization and the fans as well as my teammates real is real and the fans and media aren’t idiots
