I really like these flies with more than a few steps. This one looks like a lot of fun to tie! How long would it take you to tie one of these from start to finish at a comfortable pace? I would expect It would take me nearly 20 minutes to tie one. Though I have been tying about a year now. I've tied roundabout 3,300 flies I would guess. (11 months X 30 days X 10 flies a day average) I feel like I have a good grasp on the basics, but watching people like you and Cheech tie flies I realize that 3300 flies, while its a good start, I'm likely 10 times less practiced as folks like Cheech, Charlie Craven and yourself are. Love to learn new flies =)

Nice tie, Davie. What do you use to dye the grey partridge feathers to the brown shade? Thanks in advance.
@DavieMcPhail Жыл бұрын
Hi Mike, Veniards Brown dye will give you a nice colour though I also like to use their Cinnamon or Fiery Brown to get colours for these patterns..I'm glad you liked the fly.. All the very best Davie

Lovely caddis. You usually add the antennae or “horns.” They do give the fly a buggier & more realistic impression. I started out tying caddis by including them but stopped when they often got torn off by the first or second fish. It didn’t seem to make a difference when fishing. However, I confess that I wasn’t a good enough fisherman that I would notice the difference. Do you feel that they make a difference in your rate of hook ups?

Hello Davie... In the beginning of the video... the 'top dropper CDC caddis'. The first shown with the chartreuse rib. You mentioned you had tied it before. I went on a search for that video and didn't find it. Would you point me to it please? Mike
